Maybe the main character starts the book out with a really terrible horror dream, but the readers don’t know it’s a dream. They spend the first while in the dream, and they gain feelings for a character in the dream. But then they wake up. Disappointed, they start their everyday life again BUT THEN they find out that the people in their dream are real? I have no idea XD -
