Ally awoke in the middle of the night. She sat up with a jolt, feeling the cold sweat that soaked through her shirt. She closed her eyes and winced as the pain returned to her ribs and head. Sitting there, she saw a figure walking towards the building. She held her breath, hoping, praying it wasn't her mother. Her mother, the woman who had raised her. Her mother, the one who was supposed to care for her. Her mother, the one who broke her heart in two. -
