Thread Topic: my college came out with their back to school corona plan

it honestly makes me really mad. when corona first hit i was stuck on campus for 3 weeks, not able to go home. march was one of the roughest months that i've had in a very long time. I was hoping things would have gotten better over the summer. I haven't left my home hardly at all since I had gotten home due to the situation. I was doing my part with the face masks, not seeing my friends, hardly doing anything, even losing my job.
but now things are worse, and i'm going to finish my associates in light of a pandemic and probably not being able to talk to anyone in person or make real friends as my classes are probably going to be online.
i'll just be stuck in a dorm with hardly anyone with me, doing reports for my ra job, and missing on my college experience because everyone in america is an idiot.
anyways, thanks for coming to my ted talk -
I'm so sorry, Funnie. It definitely sucks that college is going to end up being online.
I kind of understand. This is my first semester, and I was hoping to make friends and get to experience how different college is to high school. Now I'm going to have to see if I can handle online classes without cracking. 😠-
yeah, if i had graduated this year from highschool i honestly would have taken the year off until things got better. online schooling tbh isn't worth it

My parents told me they'd kick me out if I didn't immediately attend school. 🙃 So I'm going to hold out and hope that I don't fail. I have no idea what I'm doing or how anything works, but we'll figure it out as it goes.
How much do you have left to do in order to finish your associates? Like, do you have a specific number of classes for the semester/year? -
oh, that's kind of bs. i'm sorry they did that. are they at least helping you pay for it at all?
and this semester i have 20 credits, with 11 classes. next semester i think i'm supposed to have 11 classes with probably close to around the same credit hours as well. then i graduate and hopefully head on to uni.
dont let this scare you tho, my major is overly vigorous. Hopefully you don't have this much haha. what does your first year look like? -
Nah, but my grandparents are. When I was a kid, they put money aside every year until they couldn't afford to do it. So I'll have just enough money to get an associates from the local community college.
OH GOD 20????? Aren't most classes only worth like 3???
I only have 3 courses— an English course, one about communication, and a required course that helps you transition from high school to college. I think it adds up to 7 credits total? -
well, at least someone is helping! i luckily have my entire year paid for with an RA job and scholarships for being on disability and first gen student
yeah, it's a lot. and class credits all depend on like how much time you spend in class and the work you put in out of it. many of my classes are docked credit hours. I have a class that meets once a week that's actually 0 credits. I have a class that meets 3 times a week for an hour each considered a "lab" class that's only 1 credit. If we counted all the hours I actually spend in class a week, it would be up to 25 hours in class a week. and then my job is considered to be 10 hours a week, so id have 35 hours of working every week.
i'm glad to hear you're taking the smarter rout haha. i think you hardly hit the part time mark, whcih means as long as you get your stuff done asap, balancing it all shouldn't be too horribly hard, especially with 3 courses, it's pretty easy to keep all the work lined up together. but i'm pretty experienced at this point so if you ever need help with anything you can always hit me up haha. i'm also on the gtq discord which might be easier to talk to me there as i only get on gtq if i have my laptop. -
My parents are talking about moving to Europe because Americans are idiots.
