I was kinda inspired to make this due to the fact that my best friend who recently moved to Australia is getting a dog. Now, they’ve already chosen the puppy that they’re going to get.
I saw a picture of him and he’s truthfully adorable, but he has those kind of lifeless doll eyes, you know?
Anyways, what to y’all look for in a dog? -
honestly, i think its more about what the dog sees in you. the day we went to get ours, she started eyeing us as soon as we walked in. when we came over to her, she was barking and wagging and so we got her
-
I guess it sorta is, but sometimes when you sit with all the puppies in the grass, the one that you get is usually the one that comes up to you first.
Well, I’m sorry to kinda kill that idea but usually that’s just the boldest and most curious puppy.
But I do get how they feel something with you. -
I didn’t go to pick up my dog because no one knew we were getting him. So I have no clue what it’s like, I guess I’m sorta upset about that...

The one consistent thing in my dogs is that they’re all large or giant breed dogs. Little dogs kind of annoy me but that might just be how they were raised because usually people who have small dogs just kind of let them do whatever and bark at everything because they think they can cause no harm. So in my experience, smaller dogs tend to be more aggressive. But I’ve definitely met some small dogs in the humane society that I thought were pretty chill and I wouldn’t have minded having them. But I also like to hike and run, so a dog that I can take with me would be ideal, and small dogs can’t usually keep up because of their legs

its all right! im describing it as best as i can, i was 6 at the time so i don't remember too well

My dog will bark at just about everything. As long as he’s kept on a tight leash and won’t be super spastic, we’re okay with it. We’re teaching him to not play bite, because he’s actually made me bleed once while we were playing. He’s very sweet, but he doesn’t understand that he takes it a bit too far sometimes.

When my parents surprised us with our chocolate lab when I was in elementary school, they said they picked him because he literally just crawled right in my mom’s lap and fell asleep while they were playing with the other puppies. So they picked him because he was so calm and they wanted a lazy dog (which he definitely was). He was one of the best dogs that I had because every time I’d say that I’m going to bed, he would get up and follow me to my room and sleep with me on my bed
-
aww, i'm sorry about that dude
that's true, our big dog is fine (besides when the parents are gone) but when we had a little dog she just wanted attention. she'd jump on our laps, do the thing where they lift up your hand, s--- she even crawled into bed and slept with me most of the time. sometimes all they need is to be properly taken care of -
I think I’d look for-
-playfulness
-spunkiness
-energetic
-friendly
-goofy
That’s just what makes a great dog to me, of course I could always go with a calmer dog but those are what I would definitely look for in a dog. The thing that I said before about the puppy coming to you, I honestly would get that first dog. Because it just feels wrong to turn them down. -
I think it’s more of a you’ll know which dog is right for you when you see them. You can go in thinking that you want a dog with all of these things, but you honestly won’t see their true personality until a couple months later
-
I agree, but when I can usually tell which one is right for me.
Ngl, usually dogs sorta shape into your personality sometimes. -
especially if they're a puppy
-
Yeah, dogs definitely take on some of their owner’s personality
-
unless their owner has none
