my brain has two modes apparently and they're "barely get by, put all energy into doing just above average and fly under the radar" and "i am currently studying 5 different things that have no useful application to anything else i'm doing and i cannot stop"

i just realized why my attempt to start learning italian again went nowhere even though i was super into it last time. i didn't have the fixation part of it this time around— which is also why i'm now sitting here researching how to transpose music by ear to play on my 4-hole ocarina (which i still don't even have) because there's way less out there in terms of sheet music
