Thread Topic: My sister's bird just died

So my sister's bird just died but I don't feel very sad, she had been here for five years but I just didn't feel close to the bird, and I feel bad for not being sad enough.
-
There's nothing wrong with that. It's hard to feel attached to things that weren't close to you.
-
any kind of loss is incredibly difficult to get through no matter how close or connected you were.
it’s possible to recognize that and move on!! i wish i had more solid advice but, this is all i have for now :(( -
birds are difficult to bond with unless you spend alot of time with them so it's understandable.
-
The only memories I have of the bird was it being very hard to catch once it got out of its cage.
-
What makes it worse is that my sister has been bawling her eyes out despite not being close to the bird anyways which makes me feel like a jerk
-
You're not a jerk, Eggaly. You can't control your feelings. All you can do is be there for her.
