Is an app kicking you out usually a problem with the app, or the device?

It can be either or. I know every now and then, Youtube will keep kicking me off. I just let my phone be for a little while, let my phone restart if it's been on for too long, and try again. Usually, it stops kicking me off then

For me, it's my texting app. My dad said that it might be because the app isn't part of the amazon collection of apps, so it won't work as well, plus it was a free app, so what can you expect. But I think I've restarted my kindle enough times.
