So, it's almost 2020. And before we get there, I have a long story to share.
Let's start it this way: In 2010, I was seven.
So little six year old me in 2009 was aware that the decade was changing, and that ten years had gone by, but I had no idea what that actually meant. I'll admit, growing up without much TV or internet access left me a little cut off, it wasn't until I got my first phone in 2015 that I started to become more aware of the world outside of my little bubble. Really, the last five years feel like their own decade to me. Imagine what it's like for sixteen year old me to be sitting here at the end of another decade, and finally understanding what this means for the people living through this.
I guess what I came here to say is this: me in 2019 making a twitter account is the same as me in 2018 making a Reddit account is the same as me in 2017 making a Tumblr account is the same as me in 2016 making an Instagram account is the same as me in 2015 making a Wattpad account is the same as me in 2014 making a GoToQuiz account is the same as me in 2013 discovering the forums on a zoo game on my mom's nook. I grew up discovering the world around me in this decade in an experience nobody else will be able to have the same way.
I leave you with this: this website was a crucial step in my journey to find myself as a person, and I wish it were the same today.
Feel free to drop any other sappy rants or let this thread die lol -
You know the decade ends on 2020, right?

Aw this is cute

SE, not to undermine your sappy and heartfelt and really awesome rant, but for some reason the 2020 new year is underwhelming for me?? You can bet next year on "date:" tabs on test and stuff I'll be writing 2019 and then having to cross out two numbers instead of one like usual.. That's the biggest change I'm preparing myself for.
Remember this: just because there's a new year doesn't mean the previous years didn't happen. Everything you've decided and every moment you've experienced have led up to this moment and built you up into the person you are today. 2020 is just another year to grow and learn, and the years before were the same. 2020 is ultimately just a number, it doesn't have to mean that childhood is over or that you've even reached your peak yet.
We've still got a long way to go. -
