As writers, we often go with the opposites attract cliche when writing characters. So we like to pair up terrible, awful people with amazing people to even it out so that the awful character can become good and live a better life. However what we don’t notice is that the good character gets dragged down a bit with this style of writing, causing the horrible one to then become more phrased and likable.
In real life, good people might think that they have to date terrible people in order to be worthwhile. They must sacrifice their time and energy into making that person better. However I don’t believe that’s true. If a bad person wants to date someone who’s good for them, THEY must first put their own time and energy into becoming better BEFORE they find the person that’s right for them.
Good people should have to feel like they have to be dragged down by bad people, just to feel worthwhile. If your a good person, you deserve to be happy where you are in life and find people that make your life better! You shouldn’t be looked over or worn down, because you work hard to be a good person. So be good, build your life, and work for the things that you need to have a better life,y
