in middle school, I was bullied and sexually harassed every day because of who I am and the school counselor told me it was my fault for "flaunting"
I didn't flaunt
I didn't tell anyone about my sexuality unless they asked
I didn't even hold hands with my significant other when we were together
I just existed, and that was enough for all of that hate to be thrown at me when I was just a child
I had a school counselor tell me it was my fault. she told me to hide who I was when I wasn't even "flaunting" it in the first place
and the bullies (in this specific incident) were let go without any consequence because there "weren't enough witnesses" even though it happened in the middle of the courtyard and everyone saw their entourage approach us and yank my s/o by the arm and swing them to the ground and tell us we were going to hell and going to get AIDS and that we deserved to die

I was f---ing strong and I dealt with it and I came out alive but some kids don't. I almost didn't
tell that kid it was his fault he was bullied because he existed
I didn't deserve any of that and neither do any other LGBT+ kids
because I just existed
