kpop is trash
it's just mass produced (through training camps with unnecessary expectations, brutal methods, and the inability to give the trainees artistic integrity)
being conventionally attractive (wait not really, makeup and cosmetic surgery, oops!) can supply to a vast market of teens/older adults that let appearance mask the mediocrity streaming through their ears
if you like this s---, go figure, you are apart of the audience they intended to target towards, it's somewhat of a success
but the oversaturation is the same thing
they all color their hair strange colors, they are in groups of massive quantity (less is more, kthnxbye), any type of separation and originality is not recognized by the recording corporations
and my personal theory is that it's just music that distracts the other world from delving into South Korea's political and social state and tries to make a niche market like the US has with large media (music) influences
overall, you can have your own musical preferences but to me, kpop is just another "art form" (heavy emphasis) that will die out in a couple of years due to the shift of demand -
hey dude i agree you make hecka nice points
-
I don't really understand the appeal of Kpop and Jpop groups (besides my precious Babymetal) but I don't blame others for liking them. I guess because they're...cute? But most of them are identical to each other
-
kpop is cute and the music makes me want to dance
-
plot twist kpop is from north korea lololol -
I agree that not everything has a be a pretentious puddle of meaning and one song can just be about the relentless euphoria you get from intense social interactions (parties and raves or dancing your ass off) or most of what kpop circulates around, love (a vague emotion)
But damn, I have not seen one SINGLE SHRED of something that had some sort of substance where you can think about something FOR ONCE.
yes, songs do that, they can CHALLENGE you to make inferences and fun interpretations
it's really hard to do that because the lack of good song writing skills prevents any type of subtlety and "negative space" to allow the listener to apply their own interpretaitons
wolf, omg yes I have pleased the masters
I don't either. Don't get me wrong, some of them are really good to look at it but their music is trash. I have only see ONE good korean song (more of a rap) where these Korean guys were f---ing destroying it and it was really good.
That's exactly what Korean POP is intended to do, nothing more, nothing less, but I am sure if these groups were left with free will and division and freedom they would make something meaningful but STILL enticing to listen to instead of the same dribble every single time. -
nyucknyuck masters my booty
i just agree is all -
y u mean 2 me tho
-
i'm glad you're not completely attacking people for liking kpop, because letting innocent people enjoy innocent things is good :^) and your points are very much valid
i just like it though haha. it's cute, you can dance to it, and that's usually the type of songs i like
songs that are easy to understand and songs you can just dance to -
mhm
that's coolio, I mean it's not my cup of tea but just because someone else's preferences contrasts from mines doesn't mean mines is superior because it's from ME -
jpop is superior and japan had a much bigger influence on the US
video games, comics, art/cartoons, even music
