The couple survived. The reason why a couple dies every year during the second week of April is the town is guaranteed to prosper if a sacrifice of a man and a woman is made every year during the second week of April. Since the couple didn't die, cops and a girl's aunt and uncle tried to kill Dean and the girl. Sam saved the day and untied them from the restraints. When they were all found in the orchard, they were gunned down. Right before they were about to shoot, the scarecrow killed the aunt and uncle. They burned the tree where the God's power was centered, and the town turned to shambles. The end.
