someone who i adored basically left my life
yes, i did love him (not romantically, but he was my best friend) well, he left and we haven't spoken for a good 6 months
so.. he finally texted me today to tell me that i was a pathetic person and he only talked to me because he felt bad for me. he has done drugs and he does drink (bc he's 18, so he's aloud) and i thought maybe he was high or drunk or something
and idk what to say

That's could be the case, he is probably stressed and taking out the stress on anyone and everyone he can. At least you have heard from him though. He could also feel guilty and is trying to cut of all connections because of this. I am sure your friend is struggling with things. Just be patient and try your best not to take a hateful statement like that get to you. If you guys are best friends then I'm sure he didn't just feel bad for you.
