See- Anime is not a cartoon- I mean, look at Another. Though anime is an escape from reality- Anime helps pull people into a world where anything can happen. Some just get so addicted to that and that's why anime is so famous. Yes, there are cartoons and shiz but the way anime is, it's an escape. That's my reason for being obsessed with it. -

Anime is more than just "Japanese cartoons". Most have really good plots and morals. Why do you think people watch shows like The Walking Dead or Stranger Things? And why are they obsessed? Because it's interesting. And it's continuos with seasons, just like anime. The only difference is that TV shows use real people and not cartoons. Anime has lots of genres to entertain people, and it's not only for kids, it's for all ages.

some people just don't find it captivating
my sister dislikes anime and doesn't get why people like to watch it
I used to be an anime fanatic, but as I grew older I just sort of lost my tongue to indulge in it. I watch very few selective anime, but that's it. With time some people grow out of liking it, people don't like it at all, or either people stay loving it. -
I get it that's entertainment, I'm just wondering why people are obsessed with it. Don't get me wrong, I'm not judging anyone here, I personally don't find it too interesting. I've tried watching it, like the American version, and everyone freaked out saying the original Japanese version(s) are better.

sometimes I kind of have to make fun of the anime I'm watching because I feel like some of them take itself wayyyyy too seriously
they need to take it down a notch -
I get it. It's the same with people obsessed with Undertale. I don't know it's very captivating? You can watch it subbed or dubbed. Don't really matter. That's their opinions.
