"Knock it off." He growled. "Both of you. Or I'm telling Elaine."

'Okay!' they both exclaimed at once.
'...Hey...where is she, anyway?' Giles asked. 'I didn't see her come downstairs at all.' -
"She might be sleeping..." He walked to her room. "Elaine?"

'Yeah?' Elaine asked, turning around. She was just sitting there, on the bed, staring out the window.

"Something wrong?"

'No. Why would anything be wrong?'

"You don't have to stay in here all day. Giles and James were wondering where you were."

She sighed. 'I know. I know...'

"You can tell me if something's wrong."

'If something was wrong, I already would've told you.'

"True. Come on. I'll make you something to eat."

'O-okay...' she got up, but couldn't help glancing out the window a second time.

"What is it?"

'Nothing.' But you could clearly see that it didn't look like nothing. Elaine's hands kept on trembling and all the color had faded from her cheeks. Her eyes were puffy and it looked like she'd been crying.

He hugged her. "Tell me..."
