My scars aren't painful memories
They aren't saddening to look out
My scars aren't ugly or undignified
They don't define who I am
Some scars are self inflicted
Some made by others
Some scars are on my skin
Some are in my heart
My scars are battle armor
They remind me of my strength
Because now thats all they are; scars
They don't bleed anymore
I wear my battle armor proudly
I hold my head up high
Because I know I survived. -
