scarletforever NoviceBeing in year 8 means you're a 7thgrader according to the American system right?
-
scarletforever NoviceAnd being a 7thgrader means you're in high school, right?
-
No.
9th is beginning of highschool for most American schools. -
scarletforever NoviceSo what does year 8 mean in the American system?
-
And if by 'Year 8' you mean '8th year of being in school', then that depends on if a child went right to Kindergarten or if they had to go to 'Young 5s' or a preschool first.
-
scarletforever NoviceI am so confused now. I don't know...
-
The usual pattern is this;
Elementary
Kindergarten
First Grade
Second Grade
Third Grade
Fourth Grade
Fifth Grade
Middle School/Junior High
Sixth Grade
Seventh Grade
Eighth Grade
High School
Ninth Grade/Freshman
Tenth Grade/Sophomore
Eleventh Grade/Junior
Twelfth Grade/Senior
I don't know about all of America, as most states will adjust their educational systems their own ways sometimes, but that is the usual progression of education. -
Young Fives or Preschool are optional by the parents.
-
Year 8 would likely be 7th Grade, but it is not the start of high school.
-
scarletforever NoviceI didn't go to elementary, I think.
-
Year 8 is 12/13 year olds in england.
