Since then, the Indians had become my parents, sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, grandmothers and grandfathers. I didn't know how to behave in the other world. I knew how to hunt, fish, make preserves for winter, and make clothes. The couple who had taken me after my mother died was Snow Bird and Cloud Dancing. Snow Bird couldn't have children, so they took me and raised me as their own.
-
Wawetseka, or Seka as meany called her, walked over to Kyoko. "I sometimes wish you had been born a Wolf instead of an Otter." she said.
-
Kyoko blinked at her "Me too. It seems like fate just wants to be cruel"
She had a secret. her dad HAD been wolf, but did'nt want her, and had given her to Keylala, her mom.
Her dad's name was simply Rontu.
Meaning Wolf. -
Twirling. Leaping. So gracefully, like a wolf itself. Casa enjoyed her life as a wolf. Honestly, she was split between the two. But the river was much too cold for her liking.
-
I was tapped on the shoulder by Flaming Bear, one of the young men who I had gone fighting with. He pointed to a herd of bisons.
"Make a rock." he said, still eyeing the group. I nodded and kneeled down. I ran my fingers on the earth, and a very large rock appeared over my hand. I took my hand out of the illusion, and Flaming Bear aimed at a female bison with his arrow. -
"Fate has everything planned out, this little misfortune is just a part of something greater." Wawetseka said, then sighed. "I sometimes fear I'll turn into my grandmother one day."
-
Walking to the river, she found herself deep in thought, not really noticing anything going on around her.
-
Kyoko sighed "Sometimes I wish I could just go explore the forest. It seems so large, and the animals are soo different."
She made a silent plea she could visit it someday..and maybe find her dad.
A young woman with brown hair tapped on the tent, and peeked in, green eyes shining.
"Kyoko, the rain's stopped"Keylala said gently.
"Thanks mom. Be out soon."She said, sighing. -
He was about to let go and kill the bisons, when we heard loud barking. A group of about 7 dogs were running at us. I knew what they wanted, they wanted to kill me. Dogs wouldn't fall for illusions, whenever they saw me, they had a very large urge to murder me.I was cursed. I quickly got up and started to run. Run as fast as I could to get away from them. Or I would pieces of flesh on the ground.
-
"I expect my grandmother will be looking for me, I better go." Wawetseka said, standing up and starting for the door.
-
I wasn't looking where I was going, and bumped into someone. The crash was so hard we both went flying into the river.
-
Kyoko sighed, and then reached for her otter skin bag.
She started packing things, and then reached for her aspen bow and arrows.
Her dad had left her two things-A silver knife, and the aspen bow.
She strapped the knife at her belt, and walked outside.
Keylala was too busy Helping with Nimi, her youngest daughter.
Kyoko smirked, and raced toward the forest.
When she got to the edge of the valley, she stared at the towering oaks, shivering with excitement. -
Sylvia was broken from the trance, and looked up.
"You ok?" she asked the girl. -
Wawetseka's parents had both been killed in a war against the Wolfs, and she therefore lived with her grandmother. The two were happy living together, but with each passing day her grandmither grew more and more ill.
-
Casa continued walking until she made it to the river. She stared at it blankly. "Cold..." She muttered. "It's too cold right now..."
