There's another virtual reality involving show this season. But it's a good one, in my opinion. It's more like Log Horizon than SAO.

Oh, I didn't type the name of the show.. XD oops
It's called Overlord.
It's about a man who runs a guild in a game (Yggdrasil, I think the game's called?). The game is shutting down, so he stays for the last minutes of the game. So he waits until midnight, but the game didn't end after midnight. He got transported to a seprate world, similar to Log Horizon.
The characters are the best. -

Well, the main character is interesting. His name is Momonga (probably didn't spell that right, but I'm too lazy to check), and his avatar in the game was a skeletal mage. One of the rules for his guild was that guild member's avatars couldn't be human.
So what's interesting about him is that while he's panicking in his head, his outward emotion is fairly calm because the undead don't have emotions. So it's interesting to see the difference between his thoughts and his actions.
So I'd say that he could be simply described as interesting. -
