I ran over to her. She had been shot in the shoulder, and there were several pieces of glass in the wound. Tears stung my eyes, as I turned and saw Death. His skeleton-like face showing no emotion.

Then I went to my room. From my window I could see the little red brick house in the distance.

"She can't be saved?" I asked. Death shook his head, "I'm afraid not. You may want to look away." I did. I heard a sound like fabric breaking, and my mother's body went limp.

A crowd of people were leaving the house, dressed all in black. Thats weird, I thought. But I shook my thoughts away and started reading a magazine. -
My mother's funeral was short, but to me it felt like a life time. -

In a few days I found out that the kitten girls mom died. I felt really sorry for her.

I sat on my front porch, looking at the gray sky.

I was going to the lake, when I saw the kitten girl on her front porch.
"Hey!" I screamed, making sure she could hear me. -
I heard a familiar voice and in no time the lady was in front of me. "Hi."

"Sorry for your loss." I said sympathetically. "Wanna go take a swim? It might cheer you up a bit." I offered

"It's okay, and sure." I replied, smiling rather weakly.

"Can you turn into any water animals?" I asked.

"Well, I havn't tried before. So maybe." I said.

"Put your bathing suit on under your clothes in case you won't succeed." I said, trying to get her to take her mind off of her deceased mother.
