"I can't tell you, honey... if you tell them I was down here, though, I'll never be able to get you out." She knelt down, looking at the little girl.
-
"Oh....t-the boy doesn't come down here anymore....just his...dad. I- i wont..." she whispered. Her mom hugged her tight. "I promise she wont." she said.
Chase headed back to the house, holding his wet shirt in his hands. The sun had already dried up his jeans. -
"I need to go. I'll be back." She stood up, leaving as quickly as she could.
-
The girl sighed and slumped against the wall.
He walked into the house, smelling a faint dorik scent. Thank god his dad wasn't home. -
She grabbed a pair of handcuffs before returning to his room. She was there before he was, and shoved them under the bed.
-
He looked down the hall to see the dungeon door half open. He ran up to it and closed it shut, walking into his room. "Ellie. Please...don't tell me you went. Into. The dungeon."
-
She looked at him. "I may or may not have seen many of my people being held captive."
-
He facepalmed and sat down next to her, sighing. "You smell too much like dorik." he said, wrapping his arm around her.
-
*to cover up the scent.
-
She sighed. There was something about him now... something terrible.
-
He let go when she smelled like conelly again, resting his head in his hands. Did any of the prisoners say anything about him?
-
She turned away from him. "What did they do?"
-
He bit his lip, looking down. "Well....some of them wandered into the village....some of then stole things...others invaded...and a few of them...." he stopped, not wanting to say the last thing.
-
"What did they do? Tell me, please." She looked at him. "You have no idea how worried their families have been. I saw it every day."
-
"N-nothing.....some of them are...people held for ransom and weapons. Kids and stuff..." he mumbled.
