I think that emos are stupid, yeah. They're like the worst sterotype for generalization, in my opinion. Some of them are nice, like Alana says, but most of the time they don't even know about the 'terms' of being emo are like it's a genre of music that became popular in the 80s. Most of them think it's being depressed and cutting yourself and a similar sterotype to goths. It's all BS to me. It's driving me crazy. I'm just going to go back into my wardrobe and enjoy the simple life of Narnia. GOOD DAY!

Actually, Bambi, the Emo genre came out in the 90s abd was at first called Emotional Hardcore, but then shortened to Emocore, and then finally just Emo.

Nope, pretty sure it was the 80s. Round about 1984-7 I believe. It just became more popular and widespread in the 90s. It originated from some type of hardcore (I think it was Rock but don't quote me) so some people (who didn't know what it was) just put the two together but if you knew what you were talking about you would have called it emo or emocore because there wasn't any other genre that involved emo. (Screamo came later).

It was called emoional hardcore cause it was a form ov hardcore punk that people showed their emotions with, and no, it started out in the ninteys, cause I listen to emo bands and they all either came out in the 90s or 2000s, and I have never heard of a emo band that came out in the 80s, the earliest they came out was in 1990.

ok whats with the emo bashing? Im emo. So what? And Alana you are right. Just cuz we cut ourselves doesnt make us different. Some are posers, i agree with that. But others arent. We have issues and like to deal with them our own way. Just like pot heads. they like getting high...we like watching our own blood. Just cause thats weird doesnt mean you have to hate us. I mean come on. We're still people. We still have personalities. We still laugh. Not everything is about depression. I still laugh and im happy. I just have my own way dealing with pain. And if thats wrong..or you hate it then you can all go f--- yourselves.

So nuva do you see yourself as a traditional emo or a sterotyped emo? Because 'emos' are followers of the genre of music. Emo is just sterotypes.

idk, and idc... but why do people judge emo's? some of my best friends are emo's and they dont just sit around and cut themselves all day. they laugh, thier still humans. they just have a different way of expressing them selves...

I agree with the anti label people but I guess idc. Just be yourself. I don't really like or consider myself emo though.

idk why people think that. I know im not a poser. I do it to relieve stress and all that.I had a really f---ed up childhood. You know being beaten, sold, locked in attics. I just got use to the pain. Its my own addiction. But you would all be happy to know that i stopped. But people stil consider me emo. So i just go along with it. I dont do it just make people feel sorry for me. and im sorry if they do. I dont listen to the genre of emo music. Its just retarded. Its not my fault poser emos ruined metalcore. But not all of them did. ok? Does that clear up some things..? if not im sorry
