I would continue to help them for a while but once I noticed changes inmyself, I would tell them everything, tell them to run away, and I would run in the opposite direction.

The smart thing to do would be to warn them right away so they can watch you. Then stay with them you can use yourself as a sacrifice or distraction if you have to sense you're gonna die anyways once you start really noticing yourself getting weak give them all your supplies and tie yourself at the neck to something. If they need to kill you cause you are in their fort you should have them wait til you just fall unconcious then use a knife or blunt object to save on bullets.

Semi auto rifle. Though I don't know guns very well, shotguns don't sound too plesant.
