"Just because we don't understand, doesn't mean we won't try to. And what if I care for you?" Braken wasn't really sure why he was suddenly doing all this, but it felt like all his hate and anger towards Yuri was gone.

"You don't," he said in a weak voice. "You don't anymore.."

"Why do you think that?"

"Because all I am is a screw up. I've caused you both to hate me."

"You can change. In fact you already have. You brought Aiki back. And there was no special potion to make you do that."

His knees shook and his eyes filled with tears. He couldn't even respond.

"I know you aren't a horrible person, Yuri. Even though your history isn't all that great, doesn't mean you failed at life. I'm willing to give you a second chance, if you'll give yourself a second chance."

Yuri just stared helplessly at his feet, trying so hard to not burst into tears. He still refused to speak. -
Braken got up on the chair and untied the rope around Yuri's neck, tossing it to the side.

Yuri barely had the strength to jump off of the chair and land on his feet without collapsing.

Braken got down as well. "Don't try that again." He said. "Please."

He only nodded as a response.

Braken patted his shoulder awkwardly.

Yuri looked at Braken, not even finding the words for what he wanted to say. Instead he just pointed at the door.
