Thread Topic: Biggest Influences on your music

My influences are Amy Lee from Evanescence and Ruki from the GazettE as far as vocalists go.

tongue NewbieI appeal to alot of different styles. I like metal- I'd kind of like to do a doomy, groove metal kind of thing, or maybe be in a political metalcore band. I really like old-school punk. I appreciate melody and songcraft- I wouldn't rule out trying to be the next John Lennon. I like stuff that's progressive and experimental, and even world music. Honestly I just have a really open mind towards music. Except corporate commercial garbage. Music is not a product- music is art.

Awesome. The style I really go toward is like Melodic Death Metal, Metalcore, Symphonic Metal, Electronica, Expiramental/Avant-Garde. I really wanna make music because so far, I haven't ever heard my style, and plus, it'd be really original.

tongue NewbieBands that have influenced me: The Beatles, Rolling Stones, The Doors, John Lennon, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, David Bowie, The Stooges, Sex Pistols, Ramones, The Clash, Black Flag, Rush, U2, REM, Metallica, Sepultura, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins, Alice In Chains, Korn, Deftones, Slipknot, Rage Against the Machine, System of a Down- am I missing anyone? No that's about it I guess.

tongue NewbieI'd be really interested to hear that kind of style. I haven't heard it, and if you haven't then no one has.

My influences:
Dark Tranguility
At The Gates
In Flames
As I Lay Dying
We Came As Romans
Lost Eden
Blood Stain Child
Burzum
Bathory
Emperor
Gorgoroth
Dimmu Borgir -
Thanks tongue, I'd like to hear what you have to offer too.
-
tongue NewbieI know maybe 3 of those groups. As I Lay Dying I'm obviously a fan of. Then I've heard some of In Flames and Bathory's s---. PS metalcore as we know it would not exist without In Flames. The genre would be filled with braindead mouthbreathers like Hatebreed.
-
Agree with that man, infact, Tim from AILD was influenced like by Melodeath bands, most notably In Flames. And for some reason, people are saying In Flames "sold out", and its like, wtf? Its not like they are mainstream or anything.
-
tongue NewbieDid I seriosly forget to list Green Day as an influence? Wow.
-
Actually I forgot to list Miyavi as one of my vocal influences, plus he's an amazing guitarist.
Bands: The GazettE, Smashing Pumpkins, An Cafe, Green Day, Death Cab For Cutie, Evanescence, Flyleaf, 30 Seconds to Mars, Nirvana, U2, R.E.M., Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Guns & Roses, The Cure, Sigh, The Cranberries, Coldplay, I can't remember anymore this second.
