Don't get me wrong, I love Suicide Silence, but it seems that all their songs are so LOUD. I mean, not even the instumental playing, I mean, it's like they recorded it xxxxxloud.

tongue NewbieThere's something in music production called The Loudness War. The idea is that a loud record stands out, so producers and engineers have created an arms race trying to make each new album louder than the last. They do it using a studio trick called Dynamic Range Compression, which compresses the loud and soft elements of music together. Producers in The Loudness War have compressed music to the point of distortion, so the music pretty much becomes noise. The process is then completed in the mixing process when mixers juice the treble and mix the guitars really high, or everything really high.
This is how modern rock and metal is recorded. -
