I'm trying to learn the way of the drums, so any advice given would be much appreciated.

Giving certain rhythms or strokes names can make it easier
There’s “flam,” “paradiddle,” “flamadiddle,” and more that my friend uses, and she’s progressed very well (she even taught me using the words and it makes it easier for me as well)
