oh yep yep yep I had that same problem for a long time too. I feel ya
-
i used to take piano lessons, i was 15 or so. well now i teach myself
-
Just_Fluffy Newbiehave you played any other instruments?
-
I used to play flute (never very well though) and hopefully next year once my life has calmed down a bit I can start up again
I own a ton of random instruments that I "can play" but I don't practice them regularly or anything
So I think I have a zither, glockenspiel, melodica, recorder, ocarina, jaw/Jew's harp, and a nose flute (which is pretty fun :P)
But for now I mainly just play piano. It's sort of my "first language" :) -
Just_Fluffy NewbieDo you ever fail at something that you know you can play and get frustrated (especially when someone is judging you on that)
has your mom ever succeeded in getting you to quit a piece? -
Just_Fluffy Newbiehow long do you usually play a piece for?
-
(I forgot about this thread lol)
Psh, all the time xD
Not really, but on a couple of songs she was begging my teacher to pass them, and so I got to "quit" them before I really had them mastered. If you're familiar with Bartok's music, that's the kind of stuff she hates.
It really depends on how hard it is. Usually if it's a piece I'm learning on the side and not playing for any recitals, probably between three to six months, and if I'm playing it for a recital or competition, then around nine months to a year. That's a very rough estimate though, since I don't really keep track. -
Do synthesizers count?
Eh, even if not, I could probably play something good on a "real" piano.
No, I haven't taken classes. Guess you could say I'm self-taught. -
if you mean a digital keyboard then absolutely, I played on keyboards for over five years before I got a "real" piano
