I love Alt-J because they ultimately boost my confidence. I feel so much more powerful listening to their stuff. I've also been listening to 21P because they're fun to sing along to and take my mind off of things.
I enjoy indie and alt, but I'll listen to anything I can harmonize with. -
I'm the kind of person that will find I song that I absolutely love. I'll get to the point to were I want to listen to their other songs. I'll end up listening to their entire album. After that, I'll look up stuff about the artist. Over time, I'll begin to love the artist more than I love their music though I love both. That's basically how I am with One Direction, 5 Seconds of Summer, and Shawn Mendes. I'm in the process of becoming that way with 21 Pilots and possibly Green Day. I listen to their music because it makes me happy. There's no explanation for simple than that.

I listen to a lot of indie, some alternative/soft rock, pop, dance etc. Basically anything, except screamo.
I like music based on lyric quality and how the actual instruments make me feel. I'm the type who will listen to sad songs when sad, upbeat songs when happy. The music helps me unbottle my emotions, I guess you could say, because I have a hard time expressing myself in real life. -

I solely listen to and enjoy R&B. It gives me a sense of purpose, and longing. Music is all mainstream nowadays. Songs used to be about actual love. Now it's sex, drugs and hookers. To put it more straightforward, music gives me nostalgia. Old ones, obviously.
