I'm listening to a lot of Rites of Spring right now (Considered to be the first emo band) and even though they had practically nothing to do with what was going on in the early 2000's, I just got hit with a bunch of nostalgia thinking about "emo" as it is known now. Although I wasn't really a full on "emo" I certainly listened to those sort of bands and hung out with many people who were identified as being ones, and I had my fair share of girlfriends with poofy black hair and coon eyes. Looking back on 2005-06, ya, it was pretty damn silly, but all of that silliness was just so damn cool and fun. Believe it or not that little "phase" had an impact on who I am now, I mean, why else would I be still be wearing skin tight jeans and still have a soft spot for bands like Silverstein? s---, I actually feel sorry for you kids now. All you've got are warped tour kiddies who think Chelsea Grin is death metal. Man, why did I write all this? I need to stop getting baked alone. Goodnight.

IHLAOY NewbieMan, thank god Emo died and all we have to worry about now is people who like Justin Beiber and Nickleback.

All I ever listen to is Linkin Park, Green Day, Red Hot Chilipeppers, Bob Marley and jazz. I do prefer earlier 2000s music and 90s because everyone wasn't auto-tuned through the damn roof. (strange combo ik)

Well as I said there are still a crap ton of scene kids which I have a particular distaste for. Then there are hipsters. The thing with them is sometimes they have alright tastes in music, but then they just listen to certain stuff just because it's "artsy" or "new" and downplay an sort of music that has ever gotten air time on the radio.

i consistently say things are mainstream, i hate alot of things that get airtime on the radio, i like some (barley, actually) things that are new, i like rock music, (not sure if that has anything to do with it) and i am often seen as diffrent, cause i like wearing things that others wouldnt like. :|

Whenever I try to show these younger kids who are 'emo' actual heavy bands they refuse to listen to them >.> it's like..ugh. I mean feel free to like what you want but come on man.
I don't even know what I like anymore, lol. -
it seems like every 'emo' person i know are into black veil brides and peirce the veil.
personally, i enjoy listening to five finger deatg punch when im mad. -
Emos were always pretty silly, but emos back then were a whole lot more tolerable than "emos" now. I suppose emo was less of a "brand" than it is now.
-
And I can't say I hate everything on the radio. I don't listen to those bulls--- top 40s stations, but there's this station I like that plays stuff like The Cure, Smashing Pumkins, and The Cranberries.

bree912 Newbiemost of my younger siblingsd turned out emo or whatever. lol me n my lil bro stayed pretty much the same n probably kind of a mix of eveything but mostly brown pride

Pierce the Veil is wonderful. I personally don't care much for Black Veil Brides. I like a few of their newer songs, but their older stuff was too scene. They seemed then and they do now like they really just want to be popular, and yes, wannabe punk kids often get into them first.

Love Pierce the Veil and a few other. Some people give the emo genre a bad rep sadly.
