The Alan Parsons Project were a British progressive rock band, active between 1975 and 1990,consisting of singer Eric Woolfson and keyboardist Alan Parsons surrounded by a varying number of session musicians.

The best part of them (in their earlier days) was that the songs in their albums were tied together by a theme. For example:
Eve: is about the mistreatment of women and their role in society.
Tales of mystery and imagination: a musical retelling of edgar allan poe's classics (eg the raven and the cask of amontillado)
Any modern music match that kind of depth? -
