You were long gone by the time I got up for the show
And your name's not even in the papers anymore
Were you already over the edge when I came around?
I can still hear the echoes in this old Chicago town
Listen to the drums 'cause they're not background noise
Tempers rising, tension frightening, perfect boys, perfect ploys
And hey, that's okay, I mean it's not like I stayed
Up all night, every night, waiting to see if you were okay
You're some one else's now, I'll be just fine
But maybe you'll wander back here in time
Looking back now you wouldn't remember my name
Your life's going smooth, married now with a baby on the way
Can't pick up the pieces 'cause you haven't looked at this puzzle in years
Holding onto the box despite the criticism of my peers
Who knew diving in headfirst would be a bad bet?
But I'm dusting off my jeans to have a go with some one else I've met
Hey, I'm okay, not great but moving on
Staying up late to dance, dance to some one else's song
You won't notice but I'm better than fine
Maybe I'll think to visit sometime
Hey, I'm okay, just great, moving on
I can barely remember, it's been so long
I'll try not to look back but follow my heart
And always remember when the bass was louder than guitar -
Pretty~

I love it.

Thank you and I'm changing a line.
"I'll try not to look back..."
Will now be: I'll try not to look back and follow the charts -
Wow!

This is awesome, Madi. ^=^

Any stabs at what it's about to sake my curiosity?
