It's just the beginning.
Mom look at me! Blossomkit squealed, sitting on top of a stump as her siblings tried to scramble up it.
A large pile of fur lifted its head, whiskers twitching in amusement and pride Good job, but be careful.
We are! I will! Blossomkit assured, nodding her spotted light brown head, yellow eyes shining. She yelped as another kitten grabbed her tail, hauling himself up.
Ha! Made it. Duskkit purred, snickering at the others who had yet to make it to the top.
That was my tail! Blossomkit complained eyes wide.
So? Duskkit shrugged, twitching a black tipped gray ear. It made a good rope.
Why you-Blossomkit started, then stopped as another cat cuffed her over the ear.
Stop flirting you two. Sunkit giggled, pawing at her sisters ear.
Blossomkit felt her ears get warm I wasnt!
I could see how shed be tempted, though. Duskkit commented, looking up at the clouds innocently.
Blossomkit felt her ears warm even more Why dont you go fall in a fox hole!
Cant find one. Duskkit remarked, looking at her and twitching an ear.
I bet I could find one
Okay you two, thats enough! Bramblenose yowled, stalking over to them all, Shadowkit sitting on her head giggling.
Uh mom, Shadowki-
Yes, Sunkit. I noticed. Bramblenose sighed, lowering her head to the ground and pawing him off.
You guys are no fun. Shadowkit complained, gray furred tail fluffed out.
We are if you actually play with us. Flamekit challenged, green eyes narrowed.
I doubt it. All you do is flirt and argue. Shadowkit mewed, sticking out his tongue.
We arent flirting! Blossomkit squeaked, tail lashing. Stop saying that!
Duskkit seemed to be finding the clouds interesting again, and watched them, blue eyes bright.
All of you shut the hell up. Bramblenose growled. All five kittens went silent, staring at the queen with wide eyes.
Lets go back into the den for a nap. Bramblenose huffed, licking her chest fur flat with a quick lick.
Yes mom. Flamekit said, charging into the den, her fire colored fur shining brilliantly in the sun. Blossomkit followed, her fluffy light brown fur spotted with white. Sunkit charged after her sisters, snow white fur glittering. She got her name from her yellow eyes.
All that was left was the two toms and Bramblenose.
So uhhh, Bramblenose Duskkit started, not looking away from the sky Im not your son, right?
Nope. Found you beside a badgers den, thinking about taking you back. She huffed, tail twitching.
Duskkit didnt even notice the threat, just twitched his whiskers, running back into the den happily.
Lets leave them all at that badger den Shadowkit growled, baring his fangs.
Hush it. Bramblenose sighed, licking his head Just hush.
Ew, stop that. He whined.
She twitched her whiskers in amusement, eyes glittering Oh, but I think you need a bath. Lets go to the river~
No! Shadowkits eyes widened, his fur fluffing up.
Relax Shadow, Im just kidding. Bramblenose chuckled Now come with me, lets go take a nap.
Alright. He yawned, trailing after Bramblenose into their den under the roots of an old oak.
Smallpaw woke up to see Cinderfang staring down at her, eyes bright.
You awake? Cinderfang asked, backing up and bouncing in place, happiness plain in each annoying pawstep.
Am now. Smallpaw yawned, blinking at her friend Whats up?
Hunting! You, me, Blazingleaf, and Jaywing. She purred after she said Jaywings name. Typical she-cat, Smallpaw hoped she never ended up like that.
Mkay, lets go then. Smallpaw nodded, giving herself a quick groom then following Cinderfang out the den entrance.
Blazingleaf sat at the camp entrance, her brown tabby ears pricked. She had a brindle sheen to her fur, which gave her her name. Beside her sat a larger tom with pale gray tabby fur.
Cinderfang bounced over, purring as she sat down in front of the older cats So, where are we headed for.
Dunno, where should we go, Blazingleaf? Jaywing asked his companion, fixing his stunning blue eyes on her.
Blazingleaf blinked her amber eyes and mewed Glass pond should have plenty of fish around this time of the year.
Then glass pond we go. Smallpaw nodded.
Blazingleaf blinked, as if just noticing Smallpaws presence.
Smallpaw sighed, this would be a long hunt
Bramblenose purred softly as the kittens had all fallen asleep. Sunkit lay curled up beside Shadowkit, while Flamekit lay close to Bramblenoses chest, and Blossomkit lay with her head on Duskkits side.
She heard the bushes outside rustle, and turned her head to see a jet black she-cat enter, gray eyes shining in the dim light.
Rainstorm! Bramblenose purred, flexing her claws into the dirt happily.
Just came to check up on my oldest kitten. She meowed, then glanced at the horde of kittens And grandchildren. Oh, I feel old.
Bramblenose snickered Join the club. Feels like yesterday I had just became a warrior, and now I have five burrs stuck in my fur.
Theyre nice burrs, though.
Of course. Bramblenose laughed.
