would surely be borne dead.
sunlight would burn me brown
the rain would rattle me
until all my petals are gone
and nothing is left

my thorns.
they bite and prick
and defend the defendless
petals on the
grass.

wouldn't care one way or
another.
my petals are
dead feather-weight to
them
they don't care if i blow
away with
the wind
or wash away
in the rain
or shrivel
under the sun.
i'm in the grass
the thorns
the petals
the sun.
my light hurts
my petals who
concern the thorns
who are oblivious to the grass.
no one
cares when you are
in.
you are one
or none
never both
or between
or petals
or thorns
