Ok, I warned you, so please don't complain about it being long.
Here it is:
Mirriam Sear: The Staff-Wielding Witch
Age 12-18
I went into the wand shop, and I said "hello?" I heard footsteps coming in, "Ah hello. . ." he paused. I felt him puzzling over the fact that I wasn't looking straight at him. "Yes, I'm blind, but I'm here for a wand sir." "Of course. Here." He said. I felt for the wand he was handing to me. "Hawthorn and Phynix Feather." I took it, and waved it gently, I heard a shelf fall. I put the wand down. "Hmm, well try this." I held my hand out, but what he handed me wasn't a wand, it was too heavy. I realized it was a staff. "Try flicking it." Mr Olivander said. I did, and I for a brief moment I could see! "I love it!" I said. Mr Olivander replied "I am glad, it was actually something I was playing with, but if it works for you, you are it's recipiant." "Thank you! Oh, Mr Olivander, what's it made of?" Pine and Aracumatula blood." with that, he walked to the back of the store and out of sight. I walked out of the shop and showed the staff to my father.
My mother floo-powdered me to a friends house right by the station. "Now remember to tell Sybil hi for me." She tells me. "Yes mom, if I see her I'll tell her." I tell her. I didn't think I'd be seeing my aunt any time soon, I knew first years didn't take Divination. I sat in a compartment alone, no one ever even tryed to sit with me, I was worried I wouldn't have any friends or enemies for that matter. I was given a boat of my own too. I felt singled out, I never really left the house and I was an only child, so it wasn't that different from home. I entered the great hall with no problem for once. I was able to walk down the hall without bumping into anything. I listened to Professor Mcgonagall calling people forward, until she got to "Mirriam Seer." I walked up the steps, and I felt the stool I needed to sit on, I sat down. "Hmm, Seer, I've never had a Seer here before." He whispered in my ear. "I'm the only girl known to come from a Seer." I tell him. Well, you seem clever. I'd say RAVENCLAW!" He shouts the last word and I hear cheers coming from my right. I walk over to the right and hear people scooting over to give me room. I feel people staring at me even after everyone is sorted. After we eat, I hear a boy say, "Ravenclaws, we're going to the common room." I walk with the crowd, I can tell everyone is staying at least a foot away from me on all sides, we go upstairs.
"You're blind aren't you?" was the first thing that I heard on my way to potions class, the boy said it as though it was a disease. "Yes, I'm blind Mr. Malfoy. You must be the smartest boy in the school." I said with a sarcastic note in my voice. Malfoy responded, "How did you know who I am? Is it that obvious?." I could hear him smoothing his hair back as he said it as though it would make me like him more. "I could tell because of the better-than-everyone attitude you have Malfoy." "I liked the Mr at the begining." "I don't address anyone younger than me as Mr. even rich annoying boys like you." "What class do you have?" he asked dissmissing my retort. "Potions if you must know." "I have Potions class too, I can show you the way." He said walking up to me, placing his arm on my shoulder. I could tell he was planning something. "Fine, but keep a staffs-length away from me" I told him, placing the end of my staff about 3 feet to my left. I heard him scoot away. We walked for a while in silence, at one point, he told me to move to the right because there was something in front of me, but I waved my staff and it showed that there was in fact something to the right of me. "Well I can't see anything in front of me" I could almost hear him smirking "but there is something to the right, your eyes must be failing." It got darker, he walked closer to me again. "We're entering the dungeons" he said. Out of nowhere, Malfoy shouted "Torentalus" but I blocked the spell with my staff which I then tapped on the ground. Malfoy was swept away in a torent of wind erupting from within the core of my magical staff.
Potions had not been the best. I did notice however that Malfoy came in panting. Professor Snape insisted on all of us getting our own ingrediants, but he wouldn't let me feel the examples so I didn't know what I needed to get. I felt someone bump me while I was trying to find wolvesbane. "I'm Harry, Harry Potter. Do you need help finding anything?" although I did, I wasn't about to accept help from "The boy who lived" so I told him I was fine, which meant of course that I failed potions.
After class I was walking in the hallway, I heard footsteps behind me, then whoever they were came to either side of me, my first thought was that it was Crabbe and Goyle, but then the one on the left of me spoke, "Hello, You must be Mirriam! Its a pleasure!" I could tell that whichever boy the voice belonged to was was being playful. The person on the other side then spoke in the same voice, "No George, the pleasure's all mine! Name's Fred!" He said this shaking my hand playfully, but still gently. "Twins, then you must be the weasleys!" I said. "Not too dissapointed that we aren't rich snobbs I hope." Fred said. "Because I saw Malfoy behind us some ways if you'd rather be in his company." George added. "No, I'm fine thanks. I don't think Malfoy would be too keen to see me now." "and why is that?" Fred asked. "Well, I kind of jinxed him a while ago." both of the twins said "Brilliant!" "How though?" George asked. "You don't have wand do you? Otherwise you'dve pulled it out when you heard us coming." "I'll show you." I told them. "Watch my staff." I threw it into the air and it went swirling around. I cought it. "Whoa!" Fred said. "I'm really dizzy!" George added. "That's how." I giggled picturing the boys walking around with their eye rolling in circles. After a moment, Fred says, "We really should be going to our next class, nice to meet you!" "Yeah!" George agreed, I heard them leave. I continue on to my next class, Transfiguration. I'm hoping this class will go better. As I walk, I'm singing a song to myself, which is why I didn't hear, "Expelliarmus!" I felt my staff pulled out of my hands, I heard it fall somewhere in front of me. I dropped to the ground grawping around for it. My hand found it, but it was suspended a few inches above the ground. I felt down the shaft, I met a hand, which helped me up. "I'm Hermione Granger. Are you ok?" "Yes I'm fine, Malfoy has a grudge against me because I cast a spell on him." "He had a grudge against all who aren't slytherins. He's just like most slytherins." "Most?" "Well, there is one decent slytherin, a girl named Eve Evet." "Really?" I asked suprised "Yes, but she's friends with Malfoy." "Ah, I knew it was too good to be true. A perfect Slytherin." Hermione chuckled, I joined in. "So are you going to charms?" Hermione asks me. "Yes" I reply. "I am too, can I walk with you?" "Sure." As we walk to rest of the way, I make a mental note not ever to lower my guard in the corridors.
YEAR THREE
I was finally going to see my aunt, I had my first divination class. I walked to class, wishing it was with another house besides just Ravenclaw. Even Slytherin would have been better, I knew that Ravenclaw would give Aunt Sybil a hard time. Speaking of Slytherin, my staff was pointing at the wall, something told me that Malfoy was waiting behind that wall. I threw a torent of wind in that direction. I heard a satifying "Seer!" as Malfoy got swept away for the hundreth time by my windstorm. I then headed upstairs with the rest of my fellow third year Ravenclaws. As I entered, I sat down on a nearby pillow. I heard a voice I knew must be my aunts voice coming from the corner. "Welocome to the noble art of divination. I am your professor, Professor Trelawny and in this room you will learn the art of reading tea leaves, the palm, crystal balls and the stars." She walks next t -
She walks next to my table. "I sense a strong aura here. Tell me what is your name?" "Mirriam Seer." "My goddaughter and niece?" "Yes Professor." "It is amazing to see you. I sense you will have a great future. Now, we will be reading the tea leaves, but how will you read them? You are visionless right Mirriam?" "Yes, but perhaps I could read it with my staff, if that's ok?" "If you think it wouldn't cloud your inner vision." She gives everyone a teacup, I drink mine and hand it to the boy sitting across from me, he hands me his, I can tell he's being extra careful not to move his tea leaves. I hold it and point the end of my staff towards it. In my mind I see a sun. "I believe you have a sun." My aunt comes back to our table. "It looks as though you are incorrect. He has a cross, trials and suffering are ahead for you, poor boy." I thought for sure I had seen a sun, but I suppose my aunt was right, she was the professor after all.
YEAR FOUR
The Raveclaws had divination with the Slytherins today, I was not looking forward to it. I tryed to be a little late, my aunt wouldn't give me detention. I arrive five minutes late for class. "Ahh, Mirriam. Sit down please, we are waiting for one other person." Aunt Sybil said. I sit at an empty table. I hear footsteps, familiar footsteps. I groan, the thing I was trying to avoid was going to happen, Malfoy entered the room. "Ahhh, dear boy you are late, please sit down by Mirriam so we can get started." He turned around and I felt him glaring at me, though I could return the gaze, I let him know I felt the same way by frowning. He sat down hard purposely bumping me off balance as he does. "Today we will be starting palm reading, open your books to page 326." I heard the shuffling of pages. "Why don't we start with our late arrivals?" I heard Aunt Sybil put her hand on Malfoys shoulder. He flinched. "What do you see in Mirriam's hand?" She asked. She walked over to the next table to help them find the chapet they needed. I grudgingly held out my hand, Malfoy grabbed it and bent my fingers a little too hard as he looked at my palm. "I see the grim. You're going to die." He says. I laugh softly, "You can't see the grim in a hand Malfoy." He drops my hand. "Here!" He says. I find his hand, trying to decide whether to try to read it or do like he did and just pretend. I enjoy my aunts class even if she says I'm wrong. I feel along the lines of his hand, his lifeline is long, his fateline is short, his heartline is broken, when I come to his healthline I enter a vision: It's with an older Malfoy, probably 16 or 17, he seems ill, has a task to do. Then I go back in time to when he was a small child, 6 or so. His father is striking him in anger. . ."Enjoying this are you?" Malfoys voice pulls me back to the present. I realize to him, it must have seemed like I was just stroking his hand over and over again, but he hadn't pulled away. "Sorry, I-" should I tell him what I saw? Would he believe me? "I know this sounds crazy, but I had a vision, of your past, your father was hitting you in anger. Of your future, you will be sick when you are 16 or 17." I sense fear. I realize I was still holding his hand, I let go. He lets it drop, he seems to be deciding whether to believe me or not. My aunt comes back over, "What did you see?" Malfoy still seems stunned that I would know about his past, I answer for him, "He told me my healthline is straight, my lifeline is long, I have barely any heartline and my fateline is strong." I knew all these things myself. "True." She said with a quick look at my hand. The clock ticked its final second. "Class you may go." Everyone left.
At lunch I heard Malfoy, "and then she got all mystical like Trelawny and was like, 'You will be sick when you're 16!' It was pathetic." So I geuss he didn't believe me after all, but appearently others did because after lunch Lavender Brown came over to me and said, "Hey I heard you can read palms really well, read mine?" She was a gryffindor so I didn't know why see believed me, but she held out her hand, I took it. I felt along her heartline, healthline and fateline. When I got to her lifeline, it seemed broken. I went into my vision: She was in a great battle, I saw a massive werewolf attack her and all went black. I shudder. "Well?" She asked. "You will be in a great battle." I couldn't tell her how she would die, that would change things. She seemed dissapointed, but she thanked me and left.
This started a bunch of people asking me to read their hands. Fred and George came, I read their fatelines, "You will have a big store full of pranks and jokes." I told them both, "That's awsome even if it doesn't come true, I'll be dreaming about it for weeks." George told me. "Right, you should charge money for this you know. Gallions." They both thanked me and left. Afterward I started requesting a knut for every reading, though some paid me more. I got the oddest mix of requests, not only the Gryffindors, Ravenclaws and Hufflepuffs, but the Slytherins too. Not Malfoy of course, but I had Pansy Parkinson request first, "You won't get Malfoy." She didn't seem to pleased with this news. Blaise Zabini stopped me in the library, he grabbed my arm and I cast my usual wind torent. Later on, he tryed again, but didn't grab my arm. This time he said, "Hey you, Seer. I'm Blaise Zabini and I want you to tell me my future." He walked up to me. I had set my staff down to pick up a book, which is probably why he chose this moment to approach me. I tryed to grab my staff, but he kicked it away, "You don't need your staff to see the future do you?" He said more than asked. He pushed me against a bookshelf, one hand across my shoulders keeping me pinned while the other was on my waist, I kept cool. "I do need to have your hand in my hand though." I told him. "Right." He said, leaning in to kiss me. When his cheek touched my face, I saw a vision, but it was not too far in the future or past, it was what was about to happen. I braced myself against the bookshelf so I wouldn't fall over when, Whack! George hit Blaise in the back with a chair, then Fred punched him in the face. "Thanks George and Fred! He caught me without my staff." "No problem." Fred said "Yes anytime Mirriam." George added. "But it really wasn't us that rescued you, it was a mysterious letter that told us about your being threatened." He let me feel the letter, the writing didn't seem familar, it wasn't Hermione or Padma or anyone I could think of. I heard them leave. My powers must be getting stronger.
"Well well, you actually can see the future." I slapped my face, Malfoy. "When I told Blaise to attack you, I wasn't really think about it being in that way, I almost felt concern for you. I sent that letter to see if they really cared about you, and I got twice what I'd hoped. You had that distant look on your face and then knew what was going to happen. You can really see the future, I can't believe it!" I had my staff ready to attack, but I wanted to see where he was going with this first. "So do you expect me to thank you for rescuing me when you told Blaise to attack me in the first place?!" "Yes, yes I do." "You are so full of youself and such an annoying, bulling, um, evil, stuck up, vain person!" "Ahh well, I was going to tell you what I'd found out from my father about the Seer family, but if you hate me so much. . ." "Wait, what? Tell me!" "No" "Please?" "Hmm, only if you list all of my good qualities." "You don't have any." "Well then. . ." "Grrr, you're umm, well, popular." "And?" "and, semi-goodlooking?" "And?" "grr, playful." "Good enough I suppose. Now, I heard there is an old prophecy that says there will be a female Seer who would have great power, she would be able see the future. As you know, there hasn't been a female Seer as far back as records go, so you are that woman, er, girl." "Thanks Malfoy." "Now than, how about some payment?" "Payment?" "Yes. I gave you some valueb -
I gave you some valueble information." "Oh brother, how much money do you want?" "I don't want money. I want. . ." "I've gotten tired of this conversation, bye Malfoy." I cast my wind torent, and hear the familar "Seer!" I contentedly sigh to myself. That cease-fire is officially over. As I walk to the common room, I hear someone skipping in the same direction, only one person skips in the hallways, "Hi Luna. What have you been doing?" "Not much Mirriam. Thank you for asking though. Just watching out for wrackspurts." "Oh, the creatures that make your brain go fuzzy right?" "Yes." "Look out in the library. I felt a bunch of them there." "Ok, I will thank you Mirriam." "No problem." I hear her skip up the stairs. I've memorized the layout of the common room by now, so I sit down on the sofa. "Hello Mirriam, something wrong?" I hear the familar voice of Padma Patil ask me. "Not really Padma." "Ok." I hear her walk up the stairs as well. After a moment, I go up too.
The next day, I hear the voice of Professor Flitwick, "Students 4th year and above will come to the great hall." I get dressed and head down with the rest of the curious students. When I get there, I hear a bunch of astonished gasps. As much as I hate having to ask about things, I want to know whats going on, so I ask the closest person next to me, "What's going on?" "Oh," I had heard this voice before, he had been the first person I'd had as a partner in divination. Warren, that was his name. "The great hall has been turned into a giant ballroom." I had an idea what was going on now, the yule ball. I'd read about it when I looked up the triwizard tornament. "Girls will come to my left, boys to my right please." I walked to the left of the voice. "Now, we will partner up. Boys come forward please." I heard akward shuffling as the boys grudgingly came forward. "Miss Seer, you may want to sit out." I start to argue, but at the same time, I knew I couldn't dance without my staff. I used my staff to find a chair. As I listened to the music, I felt a tear come to my eye, I felt angry with myself, I shouldn't care. I walked to the common room, no one would notice. I sat down on the sofa and cryed. "What's wrong Mirriam?" I heard Luna Lovegoods familar voice. "Nothing, well. . . I just sometimes hate being blind. It seems like there would be a spell that could cure it." "Well Mirriam, maybe you could go see madem pomfrey, if there is a way, she'd know it." "I'll do that."
In the four years I'd been to hogwarts, I'd never been to the infirmery, so I needed my staff more than I usually do. I walked up the flights of steps, and into a bright room. "Hello?" I asked, not sure whether I could hear anyone or not. I wasn't too sure of anything at the moment. "Yes?" I heard a womans voice respond. "What do you need?" She added. "Well I'm not sure if you can do anything for me, but I wondered. . . if you could cure my blindness?" "Ahh, you must be Miss Seer. Mister Malfoy has been in hear several times complaning that you had broken his bones. He really just had the wind knocked out of him." I smile at this, so he thought I could mortally wound him huh? Maybe I should scare him by doing something new next time. "Back to your case." Madem Pomfrey said. "I could try some spells if you want." I nod, slightly scared at the idea of spells being thrown toward my eyes. She tries several spells, but none do any good. "Thanks anyway." I tell her and leave. As I walk down the stairs I bump into the chest of someone tall, "Hello Seer." I hear the oh-too-familar voice of Malfoy. I back away in such a hurry that I fall backwards down the remaining steps. I feel his hand trying to help me up, but I shrug it off. "What do you want Malfoy?" I say. "I wanted to see Madem Pomfrey, not like its any of your buisness." He says, recovering his attitude. "What were you doing Seer? You never get injured." I almost took that as a compliment before I remember who this was. "None of your buissness." I responded. I heard a couple of people walk by talking about the ball, I felt the same drowning sadness I had when I was first told I couldn't dance. "The ball?" Malfoy asked me. "What about it? You going to ask me to go with you?" I asked back, not really wanting to be asked by Malfoy, but it would still be someone. "NO!" He said, "I just wondered how your sickness could be realated to the ball." I tried to estimate where his eyes would be and stared at that spot. "Oh. . . you can't go because you're blind?" He says with a pleased note in his voice. "You are so, mean." I tell him before leaving to go to my dorm room.
When I walk out of class the next day, I hear Malfoy running up behind me. He's usually more careful than that, I cast an arrow of heat to chase him. After a few moments of walking, he runs up again, "Seer!" He yells, but not with his usual hatred. I cast another arrow. But again, he comes back, man this guy was persistant today. I cast my torent of wind. Yet again, he comes back, "Wait, please I have an idea for your blindness." He says almost pleadingly now. I turn around, he takes my hand, I feel moisture, I take my hand away again and realize the liquid is blood. I feel kinda bad, I had just thrown three violent spells at him. "Sorry." I muttered. "Hmm? Oh, the cuts. Yes I think I'll be scarred forever thanks to you!" He adds his usual snob voice. "So what did you want Malfoy?" "Well, I thought of another option for you to get rid of your blindness." "Really?" I ask, sounding a little more excited than I meant to. "Yeah, What about asking Professor Snape?" "WHAT? Malfoy are you crazy? Snape hates me almost as much as he hates Harry, he wouldn't help me." "He would if I asked him to." "And how do I know this isn't a trap that will lead me to Zabini?" "Well, I'll give you my word, and my wand." "Really?" "Yes." I feel him reluctantly hold up his wand, I take it. With a little more tugging than it should have taken, I get it and put it in my robe.
The way to the dungeon was silent, not a remark passed between us. When we get to the potions classroom, I hear Snape walk over to us, "Mister Malfoy, I hope this isn't another one of your girlfriends. Or a love-potion struck girl?" I felt Malfoy shudder next to me, as much as I didn't like him, the girl in me was slightly insulted by the fact that he hated me that much. "No professor, she's not even my friend, but I wondered if you could help her blindness?" "If you aren't friends or dating, it's not like you to care?" Snape said. "Well she's kind of my enemy and so it would be even more fun to see her eyes widen when I hex her." I think this whole thing sounds rather stupid, but I hold my tongue, I didn't want Snape to posion me or anything. "I'll see if I can find anything." Snape mutters, I hear him going thru his stores of potions. "This might work, but too much will burn your eyes out." Snape says pulling a jar from the back. I'm not sure if I want to try something that could burn my eyes out, but at the same time, wouldn't it be worth the risk? Besides, Snape had been a professor for 14 years surely he would know when to stop. On the other hand, he hated me and what if he purposely put too much? "He's a teacher he wouldn't do anything to you." Malfoy says to me quietly, as if reading my thoughts. I let Snape put the potion into my eyes, feeling it seep in, but nothing happened. He tryed a few more, after five bottles he gives up. I sit upright on the sofa, I hear Malfoy come and sit next to me, "Sorry." He said patting my arm comfortingly. I shrug him off, I hear Snape muttering, going to the back of a storeroom. "So Malfoy I was just wondering, what were you going to ask for as payment when you told me about my family history?" He was silent, but I knew he had wanted something. Snape came back, "I think I've found-" Snape cuts himself off. "Mister Malfoy, why is your face all red? You look like you've been hit with a jinx?" So Malfoys face was red? I wonder. -
"As I was saying, This should work, but the effect would be temporary. It has enough for two uses. Each will last a day. I would make more, but the recipe for this potion has been lost for many years. We need to make sure it works, and I will let you have the final use." He applied it. I had a new sensation, I could see! I looked up and saw a greezy haired man standing in front of me, Snape I geuss. Wow, no wonder people made fun of him! I looked around the room, when I looked to my right, I saw a tall blond, pale-skinned boy next to me. "Hi." Malfoys voice came out of the boy, duh! He was sitting next to me a minute ago, of course it was the same person! Wow, who knew Malfoy looked so good. I turned back to Snape, "Thank you for this." I told him. He handed me the bottle. I walked out, Malfoy followed me out. "So . . ." I said turning around and handing him his wand. "You never told me what you were going to ask for as payment for the information you gave me." He turned away snatching his wand, but I saw enough to see that his face had turned red again. We walk out of Snapes section of the dungeon, "Well, bye I geuss." Malfoy says. "Bye, oh, Malfoy?" I say. He turns around, "Yes Seer?" I kiss him on the cheek. "Thanks for letting me see, even if it is only for a day." I hear him mutter something that sounded like "you're welcome" before walking toward another dungeon door. I decide to end this alliance and cast a minor wind torent at him as he walks away, it lightly pushes him through the door. He looks back, and shouts "Seer!" more playful than serious. I smiled and walked up to the common room, when I walked in and looked straight at the girls and boys in the common room, Luna stood up in the corner, I knew before she spoke it was her because she was dressed in different clothing than the others. "Hello Mirriam, you can see?" I smiled and nodded. "It's temporary, so if there is anything I should see, please let me know." I told them, a tall thin boy with dirty blond hair stood up, "Hey, Mirriam? Want me to show you around the castle?" I recognized the voice as Warren's, I nod and we left. By the time we were done with the castle, it was time for dinner. After looking around and asking Warren and Luna who everyone was, I was able to see my food! It was so much easier when I could see where everything was. After dinner I walked back upstairs to do some reading before bed.
I awoke and looked around, wait I was still looking around? I geuss that the potion would last until the time it was yesterday when I got it. I headed up for breakfast, on the way I saw Hermione, I ran over and greeted her. "Hey! I heard you can see?" She asked me. "Well only until this afternoon, but yes I can. I also got one more bottle of this potion to use at the ball." "That's great!" "Yeah, I know." "So you plan on asking someone? Because the boys at this school are cowards." I laughed at this. "I hadn't really thought about who I'd ask. Any ideas?" I asked her. "Well," She responded, "Harry and Ron still don't have dates." "No offence, I know they're your friends and all, but I don't think Ron really would be a good date to the ball." "Harry?" "No way, I'm not going to be the laughing stock of everyone for being his date." "Um, Dean Thomas?" "No. . . " "Malfoy?" "NO WAY! Are you kidding? Besides he hates me." "I give up then miss picky." "Who're you going with?" "It's a surprise." "Fine, bye Hermione." "Bye Mirriam." I walked to the great hall and sat down next to Luna, who was reading the quibbler. "Hello Mirriam, watch out, nargles are very active after a rain." She said to me. "Um, it hasn't rained in days Luna." "I know, but it's supposed to today." I looked up at the ceiling, it was sunny, but this was Luna. I ate a good breakfast and walked out to sit down by the lake. As I'm sitting I get hit by a colorful blast of smoke. I hold my up staff to fire a hex in case it's Malfoy, but I see a set of twins coming towards me, "Fred? George?" "Yup, we heard you could see, so it was the one time we could play a prank on you. We had to take advantage of this opertunity." "Well I'm glad you did, I haven't seen you in a while." They started laughing, I realize what I had said and laughed with them. When we stopped, they sat down on either side of me, "So Mirriam, what's it like to be able to see?" George asked me. "Well it's just nice that I can remember what everyone looks like." "Who were you most surprised about when you saw them?" Fred asked. "Well, Snape." We all chuckled. "and both of you actually." They grinned, "Always the surprise eh?" George asked. "Yup." I responded. "Anyone else?" Fred asked. I paused, but I wanted to tell the truth. "Malfoy." I said, they both laughed. "Ohhhh, Mirriam has a crush on Malfoy." Fred said. "NO I DON'T! I was just surprised by how he looked." "How good he looked you mean." George told me. "NO, not what I mean." "Mmhhm." They both said at the same time. "Urg! Just stop ok?" After a moment, they stopped laughing. Eager to change subjects I say, "So who're you two going with to the yule ball? Each other?" When I said this, they started waltzing around together. When they finished, they plopped back down next to me, "Actually, I'm going to ask Angelina Johnson." Fred told me. "What about you George?" I asked. "No one yet. What about you?" "I don't think anyone would ask me even though I will be able to see." I said looking at the grass. They both put their hands on my shoulders comfortingly. After just sitting there for a few minutes, Fred said, "Sorry Mirriam, but we should be going." George added, "Places to be, people to see you know." I smile and nodded to them, they left with a wave.
I sat there and looked at the lake, it was saturday so I didn't have any classes. I wondered who I should go with to the ball. "Do you always sit there looking bored? If I were blind and had one day to see, I would actually DO something" Malfoy waked over, "Go away." I told him, the last thing I wanted was for Fred and George to come back and start making fun of me. "Ever climbed a tree?" He asked ignoring me. "No, and I don't want to. Thanks bye." I told him. I watched him leave for a moment before looking out at the lake again. I finally got up and started walking back to the courtyard, I heard that annoying voice again, "You sure you don't want to even try it? It's pretty nice actually, you can see everything." "Nope." He dropped down in front of me, Smriking he said, "Come on? Just try it." I rolled my eyes, "If I try, will you leave me alone for the rest of the day?" "Deal." He said holding out his hand as if to shake on it. I push passed it and grab the closest branch. I pull myself up, but my arm strength isn't very good. My body falls back down, I'm still holding onto the branch. I would not give Malfoy the satifaction of watching me fall, I hoisted myself up again and swung my leg over. I sat on a branch, Malfoy climbed up much faster and almost gracefully. He sat down on the branch across from me. "So now what?" I asked him. "Well, we can talk." "Or, you could move so I can get back down." "Yeah, but what's the fun in that?" I started to go blind again, it happened suddenly so I didn't even have time to think. It hurt a little, I clutched my head. "What? Are you trying to look hurt so I'll let you down? Not going to work." "Idiot! You know what time it is? My blindness has returned." "Oh, hang on." He said I heard him jump out of the tree, "Levicorpus" He shouted, I was hoisted out of the tree and lowered to the ground, I fell over slightly. I quickly brushed myself off and stood back up, grabbing my staff as I do. "Thanks" I say. I leave to go back to my common room, I had work to do.
The next few weeks passed by, I waited around trying to think of someone I could go to the ball with. Eventually I decided to go ask Warren. I heard Luna and walked over to her, "Hey Luna, where is Warren sitting?" I asked. "In the chair next to the firep -
"I should go, I'm meeting Warren at the great hall." I say, eager to leave before I said something else stupid. "We're going to the great hall as well." Ron says. "and, we don't want Zabini to catch you off guard again." As much as I didn't want to walk with them, they did have a point. I decided I'd go with them, as we walked I walked slightly in front of them. Just now, I realized a horrible thought, my first kiss had been Blaise stinking Zabini! I had always wanted to kiss a boy before I turned sixteen, but I hadn't wanted it to be Zabini!
I saw the bright lights of the great hall shining thru the doors as I approached. I saw Warren, dressed in black dress robe that looked like they were made of silk. He held his arm out shyly, I took it, we walked into the great hall. I waved to Harry and Ron, Warren and I stood on the edge of the carpet as we watched the champions walk to the center and start dancing. Every time a couple entered the circle people would clap. I was surprised when I saw Malfoy walk to the center and start dancing with his partner, I didn't clap and I noticed the Slytherins got much less applause than the others. Warren walks me out to the circle and I hear applause, we stand together and just stare at each other for a moment. I take his hand and place it on my waist, he blushes but doesn't resist. We start dancing and soon we are swept up in the music. When the music ends I'm breathless, but it was very enjoyable. I go to get some punch, but I see Harry and Ron near the table, so I avoid it. I turn around and bump into Fred. "Why hello Mirriam, whats going on?" "Not much, I was just going to go dance again." "Well come dance with me then." "You? But you were with Angelina." "Yeah, but shes dancing with some durmstrang. And your date is with Padma Patil." I glanced over and saw that he was right, I took his hand and we danced for a while. He went to dance with Alicia Spinnet, and I went to find Warren, but I saw him dancing with some fifth year I didn't even know. I decided to go get some more punch, when I heard Blaises voice behind me, "Hello Mirriam." I didn't know what I would do if he tryed something again, but then I heard another voice, "Blaise leave Seer to me." Malfoy. Now him I could handle. I was fixing to punch him, but he had quick enough reflexes to catch my hand. "Mirriam, I was just saying that to get rid of him, I wouldn't stoop that low." I noticed he used my first name. "I doubt you've ever even stooped in your life, and since when were we on a first name basis?" I replied. "Since I helped you to see, and tought you how to climb a tree." "and then you spread that rumor about me." "Well you spread a rumor about me too." "How about we just say we're even, Malfoy." "Fine then, Seer. So Seer do you want to dance?" "Fine Malfoy." He took my hand and led me through the crowd. We started dancing, it wasn't too bad. Once we finish, we instantly parted. I sat down at a table and watched all of the dancing. "Seer." I looked up and gasped. I saw Malfoy, but that isn't why I gasped. Zabini was standing next to him. "Mirriam, you would have to reget what you did if you were any other person, but I love you. . . I'm sorry if I scared you, I'm a crazy teen with hormonal problems. I want to try to get to know you, without hurting you." Blaise said all of this so quickly, it took me a moment to take it in. "What? You attack me twice, and now you want me to forgive you? No way!" I said. "and quit calling me by my first name. I prefer to be called Seer by Slytherins." "Of course Seer, whatever you say." As strange as this was, I was enjoying this. "Ok, now go get me some punch." . . -

PS: I'm also writing a Harry Potter fanfiction...but I don't feel to proud of my work. I kind of rushed it, I was so excited. -

Thank you...I guess a nickname would be essential considering the fact that my username is 16 letters long and missing an extra "o". Xendo would be cool, I guess, it sounds kinda retro...lolz.
