Thread Topic: Naming Characters

Naming characters is rather tricky, even though it is one of my favorite parts or story building. Normally it isn't hard at all for me to name characters and assign them traits.
However, since I'm planning to publish this particular book, I'd like to go a bit more in depth with each of them, and I'd LOVE suggestions. I'd like any sort of details you can suggest, not just names- Quirks, habits, family traditions, ect. Anything that you think would help flesh out their character.
To start, I'd like to tell you a bit about the books. It's going to be a trilogy, with the first two books being interchangeable in reading order because they follow two different, equally important groups. The Hollow Trilogy is fantasy/adventure with plenty of comedy and drama. The first book is untitled at the current moment in time, although the plot is finished. It follows a group of high school seniors who accidentally open a portal to another world during their spring break trip. (If this sounds like one of my soap plots, you're correct. This started as a roleplay idea.) Anyways, they end up involved in a prophecy, and can't go home until they fulfill it. There are five of them, and pov will be rotating between them. Until they have official names, I've assigned them numbers:
Character 1:
-Female. Very long, curly red hair. Slightly girly and very childish, constantly playing pranks on her friends. No freckles on her face but her shoulders are covered with them. Her favorite color is pink but she never wears it since it doesn't look right with her hair. She's the first one to accept that they really are the people in the prophecy, sort of the leader of the group as well as the spokesperson. Loyal to the point of death, very good at reading people. Her father is a private detective, she's never really wanted for anything since his income is very high.
Possible names: Avalon
Character 2:
-Male. Character 1's partner in crime, often going along with her pranks and helping her complete them. Laughs way too loud and probably snorts. Little bit pudgy and very loveable, lots of character development. Scared of his own freaking shadow, doesn't want to die and is therefore reluctant to have any involvement in the prophecy. Hair probably long enough to be pulled back. He ends up befriending a dragon that wins them a battle or two. He's very good at communicating with the locals, because Character one often comes off too strong and frightens people. Makes promises too easily, feels guilty about EVERYTHING. Steals cookies from the kitchen and apologizes even though they were made for him. I love this guy. He's like a teddy bear omg. Toying with the idea of making him ftm trans but not sure yet.
Possible names: No. Clue.
Character 3:
-Female. Character 2's twin sister. Very inquisitive and head strong, doesn't take no for an answer. Is pissed as f--- that they're having to deal with this s---. Blames Character one and her brother. Secretly just wants to protect everyone and get home alive. Is that too much to ask? Probably. Anyways. She's tall. And extremely smart, ends up being a key strategist in the war, working closely with the queen's general. At one point she gets captured and tortured and accidentally gets someone killed, not one of the main five but she still feels horrible, sharing her brother's guilt complex. Probably a blonde because smart blondes are my favorite, but I don't know yet. She's flat chested and actually disguises herself as a boy to escape when she's captured, character development here with her finally accepting her body and deciding that she's perfect the way she is. Doesn't like her brother's dragon at all. Secretly really, really loves the Hollow and wishes they could vacation there instead of trying to win a war. Possible names: ??? Help. Maybe something like Candace, even though I hate that name. Personal reason for that one, a friend of mine with that name had cancer but she was so brave facing it and she beat it and idk maybe she inspired Character 3 a bit.
Character 4:
-Male. Nerdy, believes in aliens and loves conspiracy theories. He's scared of water because his mother drowned when he was a child, ends up falling in love with a river mermaid, isn't that ironic. Lowkey hipster. His favorite thing about the Hollow is nothing at all, he really just wants to go home there are wayyyy too many bugs for him. His dad collects bugs and he HATES them. He likes eating. He is pale af and burns a lot. Probably complains all the time. Ends up being really good with a sword and is amazing in battle even though he's scared of dying high key and has panic attacks. Also can communicate with some of the locals with a gift his mermaid girl gave him. Freaks out the first time he talks to Cha. 2's dragon. Is the queen's favorite even though he cries a lot and considers himself the least valuable. He's honestly very skeptical about this whole prophecy and wants it to be a very weird dream. Saves an elf from a forest fire and becomes a knight to the elven king, is granted safe passage through the forest. Elves are usually very hostile towards other humanoid species so !!!. Kinda worried that he and cha. 2 are too similar.
Possible names: Charlie, Avery. I really, really like Charlie but I tend to overuse that name.
Character 5:
-Female. This is the one I know the least about and am almost tempted to scrap entirely. She's not interesting to me, and that's kinda scary. It's important to have a fifth, though.
Honestly the mom of the group. Very crafty and resourceful, although she has trouble controlling her temper and destroys a lot of her creations when she's angry or frustrated. Has a martyr complex because she would definitely sacrifice herself for her friends. Plans practical things that they forget, like water and food. Loves the horses they travel/fight on although she's not fond of fighting. Prefers a bow over a sword, and prefers making weapons from using them. Reads a lot of the books about the Hollow's history, is the one who discovers the darker, more twisted prophecy that involves the five who fell. (Current name for their group.) She turns down an apprenticeship with a black smith because wtf she's not staying.
Notes: They need last names as well. A HUGE part of the plot is that they're descendants from five different warlocks who traveled from the Hollow to Earth. (Actually four, because of the twins..)
Anything to help build characters is sooo needed. I love them all a lot. -
The SECOND BOOK!! Is called the Wishing Well, and follows two beautiful babes. One, the queen's only son who is very estranged, the other the descendant of the fifth warlock. The end of the first book is basically the five who fell being told that they haven't completed the prophecy because Cha. 2 and 3 are twins and they represent only ONE of the warlocks. Book two is basically telling what happens with the other descendant during all these battles and quests. It switches pov between the two of them, and this book could technically be read before the first one.
Character 6:
-Male. The One the Prophecy Forgot. Very adventurous but definitely not fearless. ADHD to the max and slightly naive, takes risks without thinking things through. When he falls into the Hollow, he gets dumped on the opposite side of the world with Cha. 7, who has ran away from home. Cha. 6 is confused and untrusting and very shook up for a while before realizing that to get home, he has to actually figure out what's going on. Befriends an exiled sorceress and her shapeshifter boyfriend, goes on a quest with said shapeshifter and accidentally gets him killed. Gets cursed by the sorceress. Oops. Makes lots of mistakes and often destroys friendships, says a lot of meannn stuff when angry. Very much internally freaking out the whole time, please save him.
Moved around a lot. Parents, grandma, uncle. All of them ended up dead. His family was the only one aware of their heritage but they all died before they could tell him about his fate, so he's unprepared. Very bitter about all the bad stuff that happened to him. Very angry. Just wants to be happy.
Possible names: Eden or Eliot, maybe. Something with an e.
Character 7:
-Male. Ran away from home after realizing that his mom is definitely the villain in the story. Blames self for everything bad that happens, ever. A warlock gifted him a glowing blue crystal that allowed him to travel to earth when he was young, met Cha. 6 when they were both children and was his only friend. This was when Cha. 6 was living with his grandmother in the forest. His mother destroyed the crystal and Cha. 6 convinced himself that Cha. 7 was an imaginary friend. Cha. 7 received a second crystal from the sorceress and used it to bring Cha. 6 back to the Hollow. Just trying to defeat his mother without killing her. Loves her very much. Toying with the idea of making them gay for each other but I'm not sure yet.
Possible names: Nothing so far.
I typed this on my phone so please ignore any grammar/spelling errors.
I appreciate your help. Although I'm going to leave a dedication to GTQ in the book, I'd love to give individual ones to people who assist me. (No, I won't be naming GTQ in the book.)
