Chapter One
Grief effects people in different ways. Some take it with a grain of salt, while others feel as if the world is weighing down on there shoulders.
Adrian was one of those people that took grief, along with everything else with a grain of salt. He didn't care about anyone, not even his grandparents. The reason Adrian turned almost everything away, is because that's what his parents did to him.
His parents left him in an abandoned ally-way with nothing but a blanket and a note, or what was left of one.
Every time Adrain would question his grandparents about his mother and father they would avoid the question and instead tell various myths from various cultures, such as the instance of tonight.
Adrian looked across the table at his grandfather and yawned slightly. It was his sixteenth birthday, and he also decided that he wanted some answers about his parents' death. "Grandfather, can I ask you something?" he said, knowing what his grandfathers response would be. His grandfather stared at him from across the table, a twinkle of mischievousness in his eyes. "Go ahead." he said, making circular motions with his hands. Adrian knew this is something his grandfather did because of a superstition. He believed that if he waved his hands this way, the 'demons' that listened in on them, couldn't hear a thing.
"Can you and grandma please tell me something about my parents?" Adrian said as he looked with questioning eyes at his guardians.
His grandmother shook her head and stepped out of the kitchen into the living room. He already knew what was going to happen. "All I want to know is what HAPPEND!!!!" he yelled, his face growing a dangerous shade of red. His grandfather stood up and looked at him in the eyes. "You're not ready yet, no-" " WHEN will I be READY? Never?!" Adrian said, planting his fists on the table, making the plates jump and fall with a clatter back to the table.
"Go to your room." his grandfather said, with a firm voice.
Adrian shook his head and let out a bedraggled sigh, then stormed up to his room. It wasn't fair that his grandparents wouldn't tell him a damned thing about his own parents.
Aidrian jumped on his bed and turned off his lamp and looked toward the window. Something was there and he could see it, or at least he was imagining it.
"Just go to sleep and it will be gone in the morning." he said closing his eyes. Before he could even drift off into the dreamscape, he heard the sound of breaking glass and he bolted out of his bed and looked toward the window.
It was broken, and the creature standing there was something terrifying. Something unreal. -
