The phoenixes are holy birds born from Nalathalan fire. The phoenixes are able to be reborn after death, but only 3 times before they are dead for good. However, Sinde is known to recreate birds if this happens. The birds have an innate talent with fire based magicks. They are extremely weak to water based magicks.
The phoenixes hatch from bright red eggs and grow naturally. It is hard to determine the lifespan of a Nalathalan phoenix. The oldest phoenix is 3000 years old.
Each phoenix has a distinct personality which develops during the course of their life. The phoenixes develop their own talents and interests. For example some of them have developed an interest in learning how to harness the powers of water to better protect themselves. -

Legend speaks of a mighty dragon who lived on a vast mountain, this dragon was said to be a god of creation- a powerful dragon who created the entirety of the continent. This dragon was named Ysomr. This dragon saw to the creation of the forests, the ocean, the animals things to give shape to this void he had been born in. He made many animals to help populate the lonely world he had been born in. The legends say that humans were among those creations. Ysomr doted over mankind, coddling them. There was a long period of time where mankind lived in peace with the dragon. But like any child they would soon grow and began to follow their own path. The dragon was proud of his children and pushed them to grow in positive ways. However this growth began to form a schism between father and child as man began to create new deities- they began to believe they were created by something else. They forsook the dragon and took up strange new religions. These new religions were focused on erasing the natural essence of man. They sought to become something new, something unnatural. They wanted to become greater than every creature. The leaders of these religions called other religions dreams of heresy and sought the eradication of old holy symbols. They soon turned their sights to the direct offspring of Ysomr. They hunted down dragons and began a genocide. The wyrm only wanted every creature to live in peace. Yet it seemed that man was straying far from any path he set for them. This saddened the dragon so much that he cried in his cave, flooding the mountains and his cave.
They forgot their respect for nature, their love for the world and took to slaughtering and desecrate everything Ysomr had worked towards. The dragon lay in his cave, lamenting how things had turned out. Soon the legion of heretics entered Ysomr’s mountain and began to attack him savagely. They struck him with swords, shot him with arrows, spat on him, beguiled him. Yet he did not retaliate for fear of harming his children. The dragon’s final night was hellish, but the poor dragon still had more to come.
The dragon’s eyes closed as his chest heaved. His breath was labored and soon ceased. Blood seeped out of open wounds, people danced around the corpse of the serpent holding scales, tendons, pieces of his horns. They sang praises to their gods whilst prancing around the corpse of their father. While they were mocking the cadaver of the father dragon, the draconic soul was traveling far from its marred shell. Ysomr’s eyes snapped open as he awoke in his cave. He took in the shadowy sights, focusing on the familiarity. But something felt off to the dragon. Sanguine light poured in through the entrance of his cave. The soul travelled to a dark land and the dragon opened his eyes again. He found himself in his cave, but things were not the same. The moonlight that entered his cave was an eerie scarlet and no sound reached his ears. Ysomr was deeply unsettled and chills ran down his spine. He heard footsteps as he saw lookalikes of his children approach him. His eyes widened as they set about slaughtering him again. Time and time again he was assaulted, his wounds recovering. His life began and began just to end quickly. The dragon was cursed to repeat this for eternity. The dragon’s soul still weeps to this day.
