Buzz! Buzzz! Mabel's cellphone was vibrating. "Dad" was written in microscopic letters on the screen.
"Hello? Dad?" Mabel asked. "He's getting worse. Why aren't you home?"
"I know things are tough down at the house, Mabel." Her father replied. "But I'm going on a...buisiness trip."
"You're what?" Mabel raged. "My baby brother's about to die and you're going on a last minute buisiness trip?"
"It's going to be a long one..." Dad's voice was shaky. "And I'm not going to be able to say goodnight today. I'm...at the airport right now."
"I hate you!" Mabel began to sob. "Harold is dying in his hospital bed, and you're not here for support! You never are!"
"Mabel, sweetie!" Dad huffed. "You don't know how tough my job is!" -
"Dad, tell me! I'm not a little girl amymore. What's so important?"
Well Sweetheart, I- I may be able to find a cure for your brother if I leave soon."
"A cure? but how is that possible? The doctors said he'd probably die tomorrow, and there is no antidote."
"Please dear, trust me. . . " With that he hung up the phone. Mable was left sitting there with her brother, wondering what was going on.
