I should've never trusted him. I should've listened to my mother. Then, none of this would've happened. I wouldn't be alone and paranoid. Wondering if he will ever return...
-
It all happened back when I was six. Ten years ago. I still remember how I pranced across the fields, merrily. How my mother would gaze at me smiling.
Abruptly, a strange blonde man approached me. I stopped and stared at him, curiously. He seemed intrigued by me. Fascinated. He obviously had something on his mind. -
My mother came running. Swiftly, I spun around to face her.
'Mommy, who's that?' I asked, blinking. A troubled expression replaced my Mom's kind grin. The man leered at her.
'My name's Keegan.' he smirked. 'I know you're scared. It's tough, meeting your mother's boyfriend for the first time.' -
A cruel, threatening grin skulked across the blonde male's pale face. Even now, I fear that twisted, toothy smirk. I remember how Keegan yanked my mother towards him, and kissed her temple. I recall the sad, terrified expression on my Mom's face.

Ever since that day, Keegan refused to cease stalking my mother. He would sometimes arrive in the house before she did! -
Of course, I was too young to be concerned, or worried about that. It was my mother I constantly fretted over.
One day, while me, my mom and her boyfriend were at the breakfast table, I caught a glimpse of something truly unusual. My mom's arms had deep dents in the skin. Like...bite marks! -
I remembered Keegan's sharp, toothy grin. Was he...biting my mother, while I slept? Don't be silly, Harley. I thought to myself. She probably just cut herself. Keegan would NEVER do that!
Boy, was I wrong about that... -
I caught a snippit of my mother and Keegan's conversation.
'You know, Lorraine. I think little Harley should stay with me for a while.' he suggested, that devillish grin making another appearence.
'Why do you say that?' My mom stammered, her chocolate brown eyes lighting up with fear.
'Oh, just call it...Parental instict.' he replied. -

I recall spending weeks with Keegan. Whenever Lorraine arrived to collect me, he slammed the door on her. Why was he seperating me and my mother? What was his plan? If only I knew. -
On a Wednesday night, the phone began to ring. Keegan wasn't around, so I answered it.
'Hello?' I asked.
'Harley, listen to me.' my mommy panted. 'Get out of the house.' -
Sounds of smashing tainted the background. Suddenly, my mother shrieked. The phoneline went dead.
-
'That's weird.' I mumbled. I, being a naive girl, payed it no mind. I should've listened...

'Princess, I'm ho-ome!' Keegan chimed, in a surprisingly cheery tone. -
I bounded out to meet him. The cruel leer was implanted upon the blonde's pale face again. 'We don't have to worry about Lorraine anymore.' he growled. 'My parental insticts tell me, she'll never bother us again.' He chuckled, and licked the BLOOD off his hands...
-
My heart hammered against my chest. I gasped in realization, and darted to the door. His dark, unkind voice rang in my ears as he screamed my name.
-
I blocked his furious cries from my mind. I didn't dare to look back.
