.LUCY.
Alexander was your average everyday office worker, nothing special about him or his job. He walked to work and lived in an all to average one bedroom apartment. No pets and he isn't very close with his family. Alex is well just average.
One stormy day he was walking home as usual. The weather freezing, the rain hit his body so hard that it hurt. This was nothing new to him he was used to this weather.
He passed a young girl sitting on a bench and something about this girl seemed odd to him. She was all alone, had only a short sleeve shirt on and a pair of jeans, no jacket or shoes. He walked a bit slower as he passed her and saw she was covered in blood. Shocked he ran to her, put his coat around her shoulder and checked for any injuries. He found nothing.
'What could have happened to her' he thought. He asked her for her name but she just sat there, staring at the ground. He saw she was shivering, pale and most likely hungry. Instead of calling someone he decided to take her home.
Those few minutes it took to walk to his apartment were the most awkward of his life. He came up to his door and fumbled around with his keys he was shaking, not from the cold but fear. He was scared not for himself but for her. This young girl covered in blood. He finally got the door open rushed in before any of his neighbors could see this girl.
He closed the door behind him walked to his room fetched some of his clean dry clothes and showed her the bathroom. He kindly told her that she should take a warm bath or shower so she doesn't catch a cold. Without looking up or uttering a single word she accepted his offer.
The minutes felt like hours to Alex, he was pacing up and done his living room. His thoughts racing in his head, what does he do now, should he report this. His thought blurred his vision and he walked into the small teak coffee table in the middle of his living room.
This brought him back to reality. He looked up and there she stood in bathroom doorway. This was the first time he could truly examine her.
She had piercing blue eyes filled with sadness, golden blond hair that hung done to her buttocks. The feelings that was suddenly flooding him was also suffocating him. He felt a deep need to protect this fragile creature, keep her from harm. He asked her if she was hungry and she shook her head 'yes'. Alex was on his way to the kitchen when a sudden knock on the door startled him. 'Pizza' the person called. Alex had forgotten he ordered a pizza after the girl went into the bathroom. He reached for his wallet opened the door paid the delivery man and closed the door behind him. The girl had suddenly disappeared from the room which made Alex wonder if she was on the run? He set the pizza down on the coffee table. The girl reappeared from his room came over to the coffee table and ate the entire pizza. She sat on the floor staring at the empty box. Alex laid his hand on her shoulder and she screamed ran to a corner and curled up in a ball. This girl was afraid, afraid of the person that had saved her, fed her and clothed her. He started feeling anger now. Why didn't she speak not even a simple 'thank you'. In blind fury he started yelling at her. 'You ungrateful imbecile, I took you in and fed you, yet you don't even tell me your name'. When he finally came to his senses it was too late. All he could muster was a very faint 'I'm sorry I didn't mean to'. The girl jumped up and ran to his bedroom slammed the door and locked it. Alex sat down on the sofa he bought at a yard sale. He laid back and eventually fell asleep.
Instead of sweet dreams Alex was forced into nightmare. He was running through the woods. It was dark and cold, he was chasing someone. The person was unknown, but the person left a trail of blood. A figure appeared to his right, he looked down at the blood trail and it ended. He turned to face this person and it was her, the girl he took in standing there in front of him covered in blood. He turned around and ran as fast as he could. Trees past by so quick he could barely see them. He didn't want to see her like that not again not ever. All he could do was run.
Alex awoke and was trembling the sliding door to his balcony was open and a cold wind was blowing. He got up and walked towards it, and there on his balcony she stood. The storm had passed and the full moon shined a beautiful blue. She heard him coming and turned around stared him square in the eyes. For the first time she spoke 'my name is Lucy' with each word uttered a tear rolled down her cheek.'I have nothing only way I know I can thank you for what your doing for me is by' she stopped. Alex just stood there frozen, her voice was sad and soft it was paralyzing. She started to unbutton the shirt and went on with her sentence 'is by giving you my body to do as you please'. As she uttered the last word the shirt dropped to the ground. Alex stood staring at her beautiful body in the moonlight, her breasts were perfect her skin a soft beautiful unblemished ivory. His knees gave way and his heart burst into a sea of tears. This isn't what he wanted, he wanted he wanted to keep her save protect her not see her the way she was before him. She started moving closer with small soft steps. Her silent tears had turned to a soft sobbing. Lucy stopped in front of Alex he could smell her, a warm soft smell like a rose when it first blooms. 'What has happened in this girls life?' Alex thought still sobbing aloud. She went down on her knees and reached for his pants. Without thinking he pushed her hands aside and wrapped his arms around her. This confused Lucy she was feeling things she never felt before. She didn't know what to do how to react just awkwardly sit there in her saviors embrace. Her tears of sadness dried up but, then this new warm feeling within her started swelling up to her eyes and she shed her first ever tear of joy. Her arms started moving on their own slowly wrapping around her savior, she felt safe. Alex felt her arms around him he tightened his hold and started crying with the same ferocity of the great Victoria Falls. They shared each other embrace for a time longer until Alex noticed Lucy had fallen asleep in his arms. This was enough to make his already fragile state shatter and once again he started crying. Each tear he shed he shed for her. He carried her to his room laid her on his double bed and pulled the thick red duvet over her, kissed her on the forehead and left.
The streets was no place for a girl let alone a beautiful eighteen year old girl, but this was the only thing Lucy had ever known. Orphaned at a very young age she can't remember her parents, had no friends and no place to go. She had never felt happiness only knew pain and despair. Crying herself to sleep and having fitful nightmares was normal aswell. She longed for a family a person to care for her someone that won't rape her when she asked for money or food. People have called a useless dog for so long now she started believing that's all she was, no longer human but, a filthy dog.
The storm that suddenly rolled in was nothing new to her. She kept walking the cold wind biting on her bare arms and the cold ground burned her bare feet. Every few seconds she glanced over her shoulder, she was being followed. The weird looking guy in his hoody had been following her for some time now, she knew she was going to get raped again. The guy started moving faster the moment they were out of sight from any watchers. He came up behind her grabbed her breast with his left hand and cover her mouth with his right. His breath smelt like cheap alcohol and she could smell the cigarettes on his fingers. This has happened so many time to her she didn't even scream or resist. The man threw her against a wall, started unbuckling his belt and with his other hand choking her. His pants dropped to the floor. He threw Lucy aside tried to get her out of the only pants she had, -
but his desperation and drunkenness had blurred his vision. Lucy just laid there eyes closed with tears rolling down her cheek. She opened her eyes and saw this old rusted knife next to her. For the first time she decided enough of this. The man was still struggling with her pants and didn't notice the knife. Lucy stabbed him in the centre of his chest. She tried to pull the knife out to stab again but it was stuck. The man reeled back with this momentum the knife made a wet slushing sound as the wound sucked in air and came free. As the knife left his chest a river of warm blood splattered onto Lucy, who was frozen in place. Once she came to her senses she got up and ran. After a few minutes she found a little bench next to a road. The knife was lost along the way but, she knew no-one would do her harm when she was out in the open. Her mind racing she didn't know how to handle this she had just murdered some one. She was awoken from her nightmare of guilt by a figure moving towards her. Another man the fear started filling her chest again. The man came closer and she was able to make out his face. Young clean shaved face, short brown hair. Unlike the other man he seemed friendly she guessed him to be in his very early twenties. The man started walking slower and the broke into a run towards her. She didn't run just sat there her last ounce of fight spent. This man stopped in front of her took off his jacket and threw it over her shoulders. It was warm and smelled like the man in front of her, who was now not harming her but looking for wounds. He asked her what her name was but, she couldn't answer. He helped her to her feet and led her to an apartment building. The man opened the door and offered her to go in first. It was warm inside. He led her to what she thought was his room. She could see his hands shaking 'was he cold?' She thought to herself. When he opened the door she went in and was amazed she had never been inside a house before. The furniture looked so much softer and warmer than the hard cold pavement she was used to. He left her there went into a room and emerged with clothes, this man was actually willing to give her warm dry clothes. She was led to the bathroom and with a friendly voice he told her 'you should have a warm bath or shower so you don't catch a cold'. This wasn't the first time she had taken a bath but it has been years. The hot water burned her skin for she wasn't used to it. The tears started welling up again this was the first time in her life she came across a person that hasn't yelled at her or called her useless. She lay back and submerged her whole body under the water.
She finished up and got dressed the clothes felt soft against her skin. She didn't want to leave here this man was so nice to her. A knock came from the living room she open the door to see what it was and saw him with a vase in his hand. He stood staring a knock at the door startled her, she ran into the nearest room. It might be the police looking for her, she didn't want to leave not now not ever. She heard the door close and slowly walked back to the living room. This friendly man had a big box in his hands. He set it down on a little table. It smell delicious. Without a thought she ran to it. Ate as much as she could. When she looked down she saw the box empty. She had eaten it all. The hand on her shoulder made her jump the forgotten fear of this man was back. She ran to a corner and curled into a ball she didn't want to get raped again. Anger took over his friendly face he started yelling 'you ungrateful imbecile I took you in fed you clothed you, yet you don't even tell me your name'. The tears came again the only thing she knew she could do was run.
In this mans room she sat and thought about what he said 'yet you don't even tell me your name'. All he wanted was her name. She had to repay this man some how she thought, but had no money. The only way that came to mind was to give him her body.
Lucy opened the door walking slowly and softly to where she saw the man. He was asleep. She walked to the sliding door and opened it. The storm had passed and the moon was shining beautifully. She stepped out onto the balcony to bask in the moonlight.
The man must have heard her. She heard him walk towards the balcony. The tears were always very close. She turned around scraped together what courage was left in her and spoke.
'My name is Lucy' with each word she felt the tears roll down her cheek.'I have nothing only way I know I can thank you for what your doing for me is by' she stopped started to unbutton her shirt 'is by giving you my body to do with as you please'. She dropped the shirt and the man fell to his knees crying. Lucy was confused isn't that what every man wants. She walked forward went down on her knees before him and reached for his pants. He pushed her arms away and wrapped his arms around her. She didn't understand no person has ever done this to her, she didn't know what to do. Her thoughts raced she felt warm, safe and happy. Her arms started moving on their own and wrapped themselves around this mans body. The tears had dried up but, they started flowing once again but not from sadness by because she was happy. The warmth of this man and the feeling of being safe made her tired and she fell asleep in his arms. -
Lucy awoke in a bed. She had no idea how she got there. It was warm and soft. An aromatic smell tickled Lucy's nose. A smell she was familiar with bit never before tried. It was the smell of coffee. She often smelled it when passing coffee shops. With extreme effort she was able to force herself out of bed. The man stood in the kitchen with a steaming cup in his hands. He kindly offered a cup which she accepted. The man walked over to a cupboard took out a cup filled it with a black liquid. Lucy assumed this liquid was the source of the fantastic aroma. He put the cup in front of her. She picked it up and inhaled the steam. She savored the smell. Hesitantly she moved to cup closer to her soft pink lips. She tilted the cup back slowly. The black liquid scolded her lips and tongue and the taste was terribly bitter. Lucy forced this first sip down. She never expected it to taste like this. The man started laughing at her. He went over to the big white box, opened it and took out a smaller white box with an animal on it. The man pour some whit liquid from the box into her cup. He turned around walked over to the other side of the kitchen. He picked up a small glass container that had a white powder like substance in it. The man open it and with some weird small metal object scooped the substance and added it to her cup, stirred and kindly told her to try it now.
Lucy looked down at the cup. Hesitantly she picked it up and moved it towards her lips. She took a sip. This time it was a warm soft liquid with a sweet taste. She liked it. The man smiled at her. 'Oh I haven't even told you my name. Its Alex' the man said.
A knock at the door startled both of them. Alex had completely forgotten about work. He opened the door slowly. Evangeline burst through and started asking for answers. 'Why aren't you at work? You do know that your job is to'. She stopped talking when she saw Lucy. 'Oh hi there young lady.' She said while examining Lucy. 'Alex aren't you going to introduce me?' Alex stood frozen looking for the right words. 'Uhm Lucy this is my boss Evangeline. Evangeline this is Lucy and she well uhm.' Alex couldn't find a nice way to tell his boss he found her on the street. Lucy said hi in a very shy voice.
Just like Lucy, Evangeline had long blond hair, but her eyes were green. Evangeline was a tall woman she was at least three inches taller than Alex and eight inches taller than her. Lucy felt somewhat jealous. This woman knew Alex better than she did and looked very dominating. Alex and Evangeline left the apartment. Evangeline closed the door as they left. Lucy walked slowly to the door to listen to what they were saying. She heard no words. Curiosity took over better judgment and she opened the door.
What she saw made her heart drop. She felt empty and dead all her hope gone. Alex her savior stood embracing this tall woman, kissing her passionately. Lucy stood frozen, unable to move.
The pair stopped suddenly and looked in her direction. Alex went a sickly pale and ran to Lucy apologizing. Evangeline stood smiling and biting down on her bottom lip, she was hoping for this to happen. Alex grabbed Lucy by the shoulders and tried to explain but he couldn't find the words. Lucy forced herself out of Alex's grip and ran. She wanted to get away from him. Her hero already had someone in his life she thought. So she ran and wasn't planning on stopping ever.
Alex ran after her but her legs were used to running and she out ran him quickly. She turned a corner and was gone. Alex felt like the life had been drained from him entirely.
Lucy was back on the streets the nights were colder than she remembered. She still had that image vividly engraved in her head. Even after four days she still couldn't get that from her head. Her heart filled with sorrow. Her body dying from the cold. She thought about going back a few times, but couldn't bring herself to do it. Alex passed her once on his way to work, but she was hiding in an ally and he didn't notice her.
After a week of being back on the street she decided to ask him. She stood in front of his door waiting for him to come home. The hours passed slowly, but at least the building was warm. Soon enough though she fell asleep. Lucy woke with Evangeline standing over her and Alex coming down to corridor to where she lay. Evangeline was the last person she wanted to see and here she was again. Alex finally reached her, embraced her and smiled. Evangeline was not impressed Alex was hers. To Evangeline Lucy was no more than an intruder.
Alex started crying when he looked at Lucy's face. He opened the door and led her in.
That night the three had dinner together against Evangelines arguments over it. Lucy sat off to the side so she was just out of reach of both her hosts. She looked down at the steaming bowl of stew. The aroma filled her nose. She looked over at Evangeline who was already eating. Evangeline looked up at Lucy with disgust in her eyes. 'Alex why did you allow this tramp into your home in the first place? Now you take her in once again.' Evangeline said still glaring at Lucy. Alex was shocked at these words he couldn't answer her for he was in love with Lucy. Evangeline was always more of a part time fling than someone he actually cared for. Lucy looked down. She couldn't look anyone in their eyes not now. They finished their awkward dinner without saying a word well Lucy and Alex did. Evangeline kept going on about how filthy of a creature Lucy is. She was intentionally stabbing her with those sharp insults.
Alex gave Lucy the couch to sleep on once again against Evangelines wishes. He came and sat next to her. Alex put his arms around her shoulder and pulled her close He wanted to be with her forever. Lucy broke out of his grip and walked over to the balcony. Her back to the moon she faced Alex. Alex thought she looked so beautiful in the moon her perfect silhouette against the grey giant behind her. She walked forward and embraced Alex she thanked him for everything. She told him that she wasn't his even though she so badly wanted to be for he belonged to another. Lucy let go and walked to the railing. Turned faced Alex for one last time. She smiled and threw herself off the balcony. As she fell the tears ran across her face and was left behind. Alex was so shocked he stood staring at the spot where Lucy stood. Now she was gone and he will never again be with her. His heart forced him forward and he to jumped off. He landed next to her his arm around her. He embraced her in their death. -
