My head whipped back as I heard a loud cry from the distance. I swore it sounded like one of the leaders. Possibly a female. I looked back towards the direction I had been running to. My legs were gifted with a sudden burst of speed as my mind screamed at me not to die. The trees were just blobs of color, an arrow that I shot years ago into the ground a stick, the confused shouts and cries that were now barely whispers nothing more than a memory I wished to be forgotten. I felt the pain of not taking the time to breathe taking its painful toll, but I couldn't stop. I wasn't quite away yet.

The screams and howls and laughter faded as I ran futher into the foliage. I grew confident in my safety when the insanity I came from turned into a faint whisper in the distance, so I decided to rest for just a moment. A small rock had proved worthy as a sitting point, but just as I caught my breath, I spotted something. A slow, decent-sized animal slunk across the dirt, and I realized that I had been starved for almost three hours of exersize. I squatted down at what was to be my next meal.
