A girl with ebony black hair and pale silver eyes that almost looked white was born at the strike of midnight. She didn't cry, she didn't shout. She didn't even breath. But this was except of the small child because she had so many things ahead that no one had yet to understand. For this baby, was indeed, Death's daughter.
Death himself was a man of great power. He too had shinning black hair but dark cunning eyes. His wife, she had blonde hair like the shinning sun yet pale eyes like a new soul. This child wrapped her tiny hand around the pale long finger of her own fathers. "This child has many thing's coming ahead." Death said softly before pulling the baby into his arms. He left his wife, and took the child. He walked for quit awhile.
He walked past the gates of hell, he walked past of the field of lost souls, he continued going until the air started to cool and the world seemed to breath. Once he reatched the door of the living, he laid down his first born child and looked down at her. "You will live, you will grow, but not like me. Not yet anyway." He gently kissed the crown of her ebony black hair and left.
No one knows for sure what brought the woman to the edge of the earth. Was it the scent of lingering death? Or the warmth and heat it offerd in the midst of winter? No one can say except that very day a young woman with hair as brown as the rich earth and eyes as green as the new leaves in spring, picked up Death's daughter at the gate of the living.
Let's skip ahead to sixteen years later shall we? Now Death's daughter does have a name. Her name is simply Soul. (Il post more) -

If there was one thing Larry the turtle wanted to accomplish it was to make it to the clearing in one piece. The water there was fresh, and humans rarely if ever trampled through or caused an upset in the habitat. The only obstacle in his way was a long stretch of paved road, leading giant automobiles from one far away destination to another. It wasn't necessarily a busy roadway, but taking that first step onto the asphalt was one of courage and determination. Not every human would be kind enough to maneuver around him, while many simply would not be paying enough attention to their surroundings to miss him. It was dangerous; a test other turtles before him have failed to complete. However, Larry knew that if he did not try to make it he would always be left wondering what could have been.
With his goal in mind, Larry set off. The pavement was not as soft as the earthen clay he was used to, but he put that thought out of his mind as he stepped forward. So far so good, there were no vehicles to be seen. He hoped that he would make it to the center of the road before an encounter with a car happened, or worse yet, a semi truck. Whenever a truck of that height passed by something the size of Larry, it was comparable to how New York City skyscrapers on wheels speeding past a human might have looked. Needless to say, it was a nerve-wracking possibility, but the young turtle tried not to worry about it.
He was almost to the middle yellow line when an SUV came closer in sight, causing momentary fear to overwhelm Larry. Here it came, the very thing that could crush his tiny life apart, and yet it didn't. This time the small creature's life was spared as the bottom frame of the vehicle raced by above his head. The fumes that were left behind were the only sign of the machine's existence. Larry continued on, even as several more cars passed by him. There was no turning back now. He was so close to his finish line that he kept his thoughts on the positive victory he was about to reach.
Until the last car, a red convertible, approaches him and the right front tire, which seems just too close for comfort, misses him by a mere centimeter. He thought this one would get him, that his journey was for naught and that his death would be earlier than he expected. One centimeter, one second. That was all it took, but for whatever reason unknown to all, today was not Larry's day to die. Today was his day to bask in his accomplishment, walk leisurely past the foliage and swim in his newly found home. Someday chance may not be on his side, but all he can do is enjoy the moment of peace while it lasts.

The Book of Memories
Maybe if I had listened at the time, I would still be at home. I would be snugly tucked in bed, while listening to the soothing sounds of my sister's music box. I would be wearing my nice, comfortable purple fleece pyjamas. I wish that I had listened to my sister when she told me not to buy the book. Then maybe, I wouldn't be in this mess. The mess that has me wondering if I'll ever be normal again. The book that changed my life forever. I suppose I should tell you what happened. Well let's start when I brought the cursed book home. That's when all my problems started.
Once we got home that fateful day, I took the book to my room. The book, at the time, had fascinated me. It had a brown hardcover with delicate golden printings on it. The pages were yellow, like the book was hundreds of years old. It had the appearance of a book that I would love to read. Old novels were my favourite types of books to read. I heard a knock on the door and it opened with a loud creak. My sister walked inside, her blonde bob of hair bouncing on top of her head like a golden halo.
"Don't open the book," she had said. "A curse will fall upon you."
At the time I ignored her. What did she know about the book. It was perfectly harmless. Or so I thought.
I opened the book. Nothing happened. I glared at my sister. Cursed book? Sure. I flipped through it. To my surprise, it was mostly blank. A couple of pages at the beginning had words, but reading them I realized that they were only fill-in-the-blank sentences. Had I been ripped off? How I wished that were the case. My sister frowned uncomfortably. I took out my blue ballpoint pen and began filling in the blanks. Might as well use it, right? It asked for my name. I wrote down Delilah Karlec. It asked for my gender and age. I wrote down female and fourteen. I turned the page. The words read: Are you willing? I hesitated, my pencil an inch from the page.
"Close the book!" my sister had screamed. I ignored her. I wrote down the word. Yes. I heard my sister sucked in a breath. Nothing happened. I rolled my eyes. My sister had no idea what she was talking about. Oh, how I was wrong. The books suddenly grew red hot and glowed bright blue. I dropped it, my fingers singed. The book's pages began to quickly flip. I looked closer. The pages that flipped were filled with words. Words that weren't there before. I tried to read the words as the pages quickly flipped. I caught the names of my mother and father as well as my sister. My eyes widened. I caught the names of some places I had went to when I was younger. I tried to remember those places, only to find nothing. My mind was blank. The book was erasing my memories. I was horrorstricken. I looked at my sister only to be met with a confused face.
"Who are you?" My sister had asked. I backed up a bit. It was like she had no memories of me, like I did. I stared at the book in horror, it took away my sister's memories as well? A thought creeped into my mind like a bad dream: Does anyone remember me? As I was drowning in negative thoughts, the book gave off a brilliant light and shut closed. I looked at my sister, only I didn't know who she was. I frowned. So this is what they called deja vu? I slowly walked towards the book, ignoring the familiar girl's frightened looks. I reached my hands out. It was like time moved in slow motion, or maybe it was my brain playing tricks on me. I touched the book, my hands closed around the sides. A large blue circle expanded from my feet, extending outwards. The circle was filled with small writing in a language that was alien to me. When I looked at my hands, they were disappearing, along with the rest of my body. Then, I was gone.
I reappeared in a destroyed environment. The trees were smouldered and the land had craters and dry dirt everywhere. I looked down and sucked in a shocked breath. I was holding the book, yes. But I wasn't the only one. A girl, looking about my age, was holding the book as well. Except, the girl's eyes were blank and empty and her chest wasn't rising and falling like it was supposed to. Her hands were cold and her face was pale and cracked, almost like a broken doll. I looked into her empty eyes. Images flashed before my eyes. Towns burned to the ground, corpses tormented like they were still alive, and a young girl screaming, tears streaming down her face in agony. Above all, a bloodcurdling roar rang through my mind. My eyes widened in horror. I looked down at the girl. My mind flashed back to the image of the screaming girl. Was it possible, that these were her memories?
I thought back to when I was young. I saw memories that weren't mine. A girl saying farewell to a man as he left, a women reading a letter to the girl, and the girl's sorrowful expression. The girl sat in her room, looking lonely and sad. I stopped the memories. This girl had a sad past. I looked for recent memories. I saw a young women with the girl and they were practicing swordplay. Then the scene changed to the girl standing with armour on in a battlefield. Strange monsters creep closer from the horizon. The girl's determined face resembled nothing of what her now cracked and lifeless one did. The girl was accompanied by some other people dressed in the same armour as her. The monsters charged. The girl and her companions stood their ground. I watched the battle drag on, unable to stop the memory that wasn't mine. The girl was fighting a monster. She slashed at it with her spear, but missed. The monster took the opening and slashed at her. The girl tumbled and rolled across the ground. Her breaths became more spaced out. Her vision, and the memory became blurred. Then, darkness.
I was released from the nightmare that was this girl's memories. I looked down at the book that we were both still holding. I tried carefully to remove the book from her grasp. I shrieked in horror and shock when one of her hands crumbled to dust. Holding back tears, I took the book and clutched it to my chest. But when I hugged the book to my chest, I heard a hollow sound. I looked down and for the first time noticed a was wearing armour. The same armour that the girl was. I backed up and fell over a large, sharp object. I looked down and saw a spear. Her spear. I touched it gingerly. Then I picked it up. It was light, unexpectedly. I heard the faint sound of hooves on dirt. I turned and saw a girl on a horse. I recognized her from the girl's memories. This was the women that taught the girl to use the spear. A though occurred to me, can I use a spear?
The women on the horse looked at me, as if sizing me up. Then she glanced at the girl. You could see the sorrow and anger in her eyes. I waved, awkwardly.
"Follow me," the women said, flatly. I grabbed the spear. I had the urge to bring it, like I knew that I would need it. I stood and followed the women. She walked into a heavily forested area. Then she walked into a tree, I mean she seriously stepped into the tree. Right through the bark and wood. I hesitantly followed, stepping into the tree. When I stepped inside, my heart was pounding. I wasn't in a tree. I was in a town. It was like the entire population lived in the large space. The women turned to me. She pointed to the spear.
"You will fight monsters," she said in her same flat tone. I blinked. She nodded. She said that I would fight in the front lines. I just stared at her. You get armour and a spear and you can automatically fight in a battle? What type of twisted would was she in?
Later in the day, I stood in the front lines on a battlefield. Yes, it actually happened. I was forced onto the battlefield. The monsters from my vision once again creeped up from the horizon. Once they came near, my instincts took over, and I fought through most of them using the other girl's fighting style. About an hour later, the battle ended. I headed back to the Town in the Trees with the women. The -
women said that the kingdom was fighting for freedom from Grim rule. Grim were the monsters I had fought. The women said that she would be honoured to have such a skilled warrior on the front lines. I accepted the invitation, not for my own sake, but for the sake of the girl who's memories I was borrowing. I'm sure you're wondering, how is this story written? I thought you lost your memories? To that I would answer, if you are reading this, you have found the cursed book. The Book of Memories.
