She's so beautiful, I thought as I watched my crush leave school. She's about an inch taller than me with long, curly, strawberry blonde hair and blue eyes. When she was out of sight, I leaned against the wall and returned to working on my homework. What can I do to make her notice me? I pondered as I recorded the answer to my math problem. Just then, my phone rang to alert me that I had a new text message. "Almost there. Be ready to be picked up," my mom wrote. I packed my books and walked out the door of the building. My mom pulled up, so I placed my books inside, moving automatically. My thoughts were still focused on my curly-haired crush.
My heart began to ache. I wanted to ask her out so much, but I had no idea how.
"Hey, sweetheart," my mom said as I got in the car, "how was school?"
"Okay," I answered. My insides began to hurt. I wondered what it was about. It was a wanting, but a wanting for what?
Then I realized what I wanted. I wanted advice from my mom on how to ask my crush out.
I was just about to open my mouth to ask for advice when I remember that I couldn't.
Oh yeah, I thought, I'm not supposed to like girls. I have to be straight.
I almost cried. -
Wow. Its nice.

"So, class, I need you to divide into groups of two," my English teacher said.
Well f---, I thought, no one ever wants to group with me. I always end up getting assigned to someone.
"Hey," a voice called, "Eliza, would you like to be my partner?"
Is this for real? Is someone actually asking me to be my partner? I wondered excitedly as I looked toward the direction of the voice. When I did, I made contact with the most beautiful pair of ocean blue eyes I could imagine.
"Melissa! Um, yeah, sure! That's sounds great!" I replied once I got my thoughts in order.
"Cool! Come sit next to me!"
"Um, okay..."
SCORE, I thought as I moved to a seat next to her. Man, how lucky was I? The girl I liked asked me to be her partner on a project.
"Okay, now that everyone has a partner, I will tell you what you will be doing," our teacher said, "I will assign you a poem and you and your partner will analyze it. Each group will have a different poem!"
When she made her way to Melissa and I, our teacher handed us a sheet that said, "Flirtation

If this isn't a sign, then I don't know what is! I thought as I read the poem.
"This poem is cute," Melissa said after reading it.
"Yeah. It's like spring time flirting. Love is in the air and everyone wants to get with that special someone. It's happy, calm, and cheery all at the same time," I replied.
"That's exactly it!" Melissa agreed, "Eliza, you're a genius!"
"Thanks," I mumbled as I blushed profusely. Melissa giggled, the most beautiful sound I've ever heard.
"You're kinda cute. If you were a guy, I think I'd fall for you!" she said cheerfully. I did my best to hide the dagger that had just stabbed through my heart.
"Yeah, if I were a guy," I tried to laugh off. -
