Thread Topic: This is my problem with learning a new language.

All the programs I've used start you out with the basics I already know, then go on to things like "At the Hotel" or "Shopping". That's good for someone going on vacation but I need something that will teach me the language like how I learned English. :I Getting a handle on the alphabet (Especially if it's a non Latin alphabet language) and an understanding of how to form sentences.

I really understand you! I had the same problem when I first started japanese but then I found some good sites that helped me a lot...

I saw something called Pimsleur on youtube, and it's supposed to be really good. Teaching you basic words that you'd use in everyday conversations.
I was tempted to try it out, but it costs money and that's something I don't have.
