Today in school, I just found out that Arabic is phonetic. I don't know why, but I always thought it was more like Chinese, with each character representing a different word.

To make a vowel, do you just put a mark near the consonant you want it attached to? That's what the website said.

Aye, we do! There are three marks, one goes 'a' one goes 'o' and one goes 'e' depending on the sounds you want.
