Thread Topic: Uruguay's president.

He is called the world's poorest president, but he says he is not poor. He says "I am not poor. Poor people want more and more, those who don't have enough of anything. Those are the poor, because they are in a never ending cycle and they won't ever have enough time in their lives. I chose this lifestyle. I chose not to have too many belongings so I have time to live how I want to live."
He lives in a house most Latinos would live in. A ranch type of house, just outside the capital of Montevideo. He is only guarded by two policemen. He donates 90% of his salary (12k the month) to charity.
He's a veteran. He spent over a decade in prison, mainly in isolation.
While some Uruguayans don't respect him because of the way he "presents himself", I don't believe the way he lives should reflect how he does as a president.
I honestly cannot say much for this man. But he is a person to RESPECT so badly. Unlike most politicians he isn't a crook or some crazy guy and it shows that he doesn't feel like he's any more special than anyone else. He's not doing a bad job down there, either. Uruguay's doing alright as of now.
Jose Mujica, everyone.

That's awesome ^-^

This is what we need from politicians, if we are to have them.
It is respectable, if not necessary, to integrate with the people. This is one way of doing it. It's a sad reflection on society- because he does not hoard wealth from the people, the people resent him?
I don't know anything else about this guy other than what is in this post, so I'm basing it off the post. -
Based on what you said Vege, I agree. But I have also taken no research, but he seems like a man who deserves great respect.
