Thread Topic: Do Lobsters scream when you boil them alive?

Okay so, I'm in charge of cooking lobsters for this event that's coming up and I don't know if I can handle that XD I know they turn red but a friend of mine told me they make a high pitched noise when boiled into the water...if that's true I'll be traumatized for life.I'll have nightmares.
-
no, the noise that you hear is just the sound of steam escaping from their shells
if the lobsters are being taken apart after cooking and not served whole you can always give em a quick knife to the head for painless death -
I've never cooked or eaten them, I wouldn't know.
Those high pitched noises are them screaming, I'm sure.
Think of it this way: if you can manage to eat it after it's cooked, go ahead and cook it.
If you couldn't eat it, try to decline cooking them... :/ -
Or just steam xD either way, I don't think anyone likes being boiled alive
-
It doesn't matter if they scream or not - it's still sick. Wow I have so much empathy with a lobster. :0 Please kill it first, don't boil it alive. Why doesn't everyone just kill it first?
-
Promise me you'll kill it first ;_;
-
thats why I said to kill it first if they're being taken apart, but its not cute to serve a lobster with a knife wound in its shell
-
It wouldn't be noticeable
-
I agree with ilovelions xD They could be the tastiest things in the world but man, how sad.
-
Who cares? It's dead in the end, anyways.
-
That's not the point
-
I looked it up, apparently the hissing noise they make is coming from steam from the shells-As Arthur said-they die instantly if you drop them in the boiling water head first I read.
-
Poor lobsters
-
they go into shock as soon as they hit the boiling water so I doubt they feel much.
