We take for granted a lot of things, its human nature. Many of us have grown up being taught, "Ignorance is bliss", I'm sure at some point of your life you must've heard that phrase too.
We don't want to know the gruesome details, we don't want to hear about the blood and bone, the sacrifice, the war, the greed.
We don't want to know.
Not wanting to know is ignorance in many cases.
Ignorance is bliss.
It is bliss for the simple fact that not knowing the gruesome details will spare you a lot of tears, pain, guilt.
But being ignorant of other's suffering? Not wanting to know the sacrifice that another lives through to sustain your life? I suppose many people are very into meat, I get that. I was there too, but at least understand the sacrifice, the pain that another being suffered to fill your stomach, keep you warm, keep you alive. Don't take for granted what that other being went through.
I ask you to not be ignorant
Try watching this, see how far you can get. I lasted through the whole thing but finished two tissue boxes in the process. I also lost my taste for meat, I refuse for my existence to be sustained by another's suffering.
I don't ask you to make the same choice I have, I don't expect it. I just want you to know, to understand,to be aware.
I ask you, beg you to not be ignorant -
I've watched a lot of documentaries about all the things you mentioned, whether it was about humans or animals. Unfortunately I won't be able to watch that video, due to the internet being stupid. I might be able to watch it some other time, but I cannot now

I totally agree with you, I watched Food Inc. and it disgusted me. Also, my sister is a vegan and gave me pamphlets on the horrible things they do to those poor animals.
-
Yeah, I'm not a vegetarian but in totally against animals being tortured! When a lion kills something it kills it right away!

Didn't care for the documentary. Pity mongering and scare tactics to push lifestyle choices that aren't really the only answer.
But yeah the facts are the facts. The food we're eating's pretty gross, globalization and corporatism destroying every resource that we need to live as quickly as they can while creating as many pollutants as possible.
Obviously something's gotta change or we're toast. and it could actually go either way. could be this is our extinction event, could be nature built some mechanism for humanity to correct itself just at the precipice.
We'll see.
