Yes, you could use a crossbow but it takes a lot of skill, and their not always light....
But what do I know about crossbows e.e -
crossbows usually way between 8 and 15 pounds.
And as long as you know your effective kill range(how close a target has to be for an accurate hit), they arent too difficult.
Also, another thing. Panicking. Killing your friends and family isnt exactly a pleasant thought. Usually the smart thing to do would be to just capture them. But a live zombie, even under an extreme amount of guard, is still a threat. People trying to capture the walking dead are in infinitly more danger than the person who would put them down. Assume there is no cure. Cope if you have to later. -

I just thought of something... What if u ran out of food and u have killed a dozen zombies, are zombies edible? Or is the whole body infected or something?

It depends on the type of zombie. If it's a voodoo zombie, then I dont see why not. But disease doesnt die when a body does. And if it's apocolypse zombies then I dont think it would be wise.
